Alongside Kyuss, Sleep is widely regarded as one of the two progenitors of stoner metal. The primary reason for this is their seminal album, Holy Mountain. Their third album, it marked a divergence from their earlier, more St. Vitus influenced, tracks. This album was sent to Earache as a demo, but the label immediately saw its worth and signed the band, releasing the album completely unchanged in 1992. Sadly, it would be the last album released by the group while together, as their next two albums would be released post-breakup.

Such good stuff, but it does sound like a Black Sabbath cover album

Still, highly recommended and essential to any metalhead's collection

Love 'em, Sleep is my favorite stoner band alongside Fu Manchu and Electric Wizard. You may have 1000's of stoner records, without this one your collection will remain incomplete!

I took a gamble on this not knowing a thing about them back around March of '94. loved it. used to work graveyard shift five nights a week, come home, drain a beer or two, and crash with this blaring in the back ground.

even my hippie next door neighbors who i shared a wall with didn't mind too terribly. they much preferred the groove of this to the Obituary/Morbid Angel/Bolt Thrower that was commonly blaring out my room at the time.

Checking out the album and band for the first time, good stuff. Might have to check out more stoner metal.

If I am gonna check this out, should I go for the original or the 2009 reissued one? Are there any differences?

A reissue is usually just an alternate pressing so the music/sound isn't any different. If anything you'd just get some bonus tracks or a video or something.

That's cool, but we didn't need to read it six times.
