Are they actually planning on re recording every song? Thats cool if so... anyway the production on this album sucks but other than that its a damn good album.

no mate. i dont think so. what i said is that the band tends to rerecord one song with each new release as it has happened with "Breeding The Spawn" (on pierced from within), "Prelude to Repulsion" (on suffocation) and "Martial Decimation" on blood oath...

on the other thing you said. i totally agree. awfull production and some great songs. basically only great songs...

Wow! I'm amazed by the such low rating. This album is no less awesome than "Effigy of the forgotten" or "Pierced from within", the only negative with the album is the production, but again, I've heard much worse productions than that.

The production does ruin some songs, I can barely make out some riffs. However the quality of the music is still up to par with Effigy' and Pierced'. I would put this as an improvement on Effigy', as it discards the thrash influences almost completely and the songs are even more complicated and overall more enjoyable than before.

At first I payed loads of attention to the poor production quality but with more listens, the album just grew on me. Now I think it's absolutely brilliant, and I'm really glad that they re-released a lot of these songs on their later albums with better quality and a different feel to them. I don't agree at all with the low rating that it's been given.

After album like Effigy,this kind of production just don't fit into music or my taste....

The prod is a shame because it's clearly the most complicated Suffocation album musicwise. I'm glad I've come accross a channel which does remasters, and was able to mend the spectrum :

If I found a time machine that could only be used once, I would go back to 1993 New York and make these guys go back to the studio where they recorded Pierced From Within and do the same for this album.

Why not ask them online or in person if not already, and lmao spending it once only on that. If the machine was one offer only then either see the weird Permian synapsids, dinosaurs, or the distant future or just altogether crash the machine? Fuck the vikings. Just don't set a campfire in the Carboniferous, okay.

They must have remastered this at some point, because the version on Spotify isn't nearly as obnoxious as I remember it being.

It still sounds a lot quieter and less punchy than Effigy and Pierced but I agree it's better than I remember as well. I traded my CD years ago so can't compare.

I know one or two amateur hacks have played with it, so perhaps one of those ended up on Spotify.
