October 2005 "Ghosts Of Loss", or the return of one of the most impressive Doom Metal newcomers of the last ten years. Swallow The Sun, the Finnish Metal act, is back to prove that their first amazing release "The Morning Never Came" was not an accident but just an amazing start and "Ghost Of Loss" is a perfect successor.

Boobs on the cover, eeem, nice. But sadly it seems to be an effort to make up for the kinda dull album.
Other than the giant, descending winters n fragile (which i love despite most considering it the weakest song) the others yea, yea.
And im the only one who found the whispered growls on gloom, beauty and despair a disaster?

This time I disagree with you (which mostly isn't the case ). I like most songs, though I think the last two songs are the strongest on the album, but I dislike Psychopath's Lair. I also love the Twin Peaks references this album clearly has: The Giant refers to the character in Twin Peaks and The Ghost of Laura Palmer is pretty obvious. Overall a solid album, but definitely not their best work.

hehe, you gave it a +1 more than me so its pretty much the same score. Btw never watched Twin Peaks, but from wikipedia i see it was a good series. Usually series bore me to death, gonna find it and see if i can sit through all the episodes.

Yeah, Ghosts of Loss is my least favourite album by STS except for Emerald Forest and the Blackbird, but still very good.

I'm kind of a series-addict (meaning I've seen a ton of different shows), but Twin Peaks is an amazing show in my opinion. You should definitely check it out. That being said, it's not for everyone, because it's surrealistic, has intentional bad acting (so don't let that turn you off) and weird humour, but I love it.

The Giant has got to be one of my all-time favourite StS songs, if not said song itself.

This is your typical swallow the sun. Love the first song here. The whispered growls of gloom beauty and despair doesn't work for me, neither the sudden tonal change for fragile. But overall a pretty strong album.
