The bards have come out of the forest. Yes, the Blind Guardians are back baby! And did they ever do it in style. Surely one of the year's most anticipated albums, At The Edge Of Time is sure to rank high on personal lists for a while.

Hit in the face with the 9+ minute long opening masterpiece "Sacred World", I had to replay it for half an hour before being able to continue on with the rest of the album. Majestic orchestral intro, grand entrance killer riffs, and vocals to die for. The first thought that went through my head at that exact time "This is already better than the entire previous album". Hell, this is Blind Guardian with a renewed energy and a hint of progressive influences I only dreamt about in the past.

Though I have to admit Sacred Worlds is an addictive song (in fact, that song alone earned the rating), my overall feeling is...boredom. I gave the album a couple of chances, even heard some of the songs live, but I still find nothing in it. And it really doesn't matter whether I choose to call it Porgressive, Power, Symphonic or whatever.

I wish there were more bands that could make me excited about a cheesy, epic, 9-minute, symphonic power metal song, written for a video game.

As much as I like this album the production prevents me from rating any higher.

Is this considered power metal? If so, no wonder I have about TWO power metal albums in my ENTIRE collection. I gave this release a few spins but I just don't get it - what am I missing? I guess power metal doesn't melt my butter...

what are those
Yes this is power, but same time this is better much better as previously and now since new is out weaker as last one , if band will realize next album it has chance go back deeper in roots as they were in speed and PM era when I like them
Talenor is best song I knew it when it was out, and I know it now as well

I think this is a good album, the best from them since Nightfall, they put in this album musical elements of all their career

So overrated. Even older albums had something better and, I don't deny the quality of the music but it's so not memorable which isn't strange to Blind Guardian but here it's really forgettable. 6.3.

I haven't listened to this one a lot as I tend to find most of it to be boring. Most of the stuff here sounds very similar and the production feels bland considering that they so badly want to get a "epic" feel with the orchestra elements, the over use of choirs is also a bit annoying (it's perfectly fine to have a chorus without it). The first and last song are memorable and the only highlights to be found here.

Great album, my favourite from BG with possibly my favourite tracks of theirs ever, Sacred Worlds.
