It's moments like these that give you a new perception of where progressive metal is headed nowadays; when you pause and think to yourself "Why the hell is there jazz fusion in my sludge?" Was worried with the single Milk leg, which wasn't a great song by Intronaut standards. But after listening to this, it seems that they've managed to top the really impressive, Valley of smoke in every aspect possible.

The 7.8 rating on this album right now definitely seems low. I'm trying to talk myself down from a 9, but The Welding by itself almost demands HL(BWWT) get above an 8.

Can't believe I haven't got into this band soon enough, I really dig their work (and managed to see them last year when opening for Katatonia). This is a really strong album, I enjoy songs like "Steps", "Eventual" and "Milk Leg."

Just spectacular. The combination of sludge with fusion is sublime. One of their best. The lower resting shows not every metalhead is either familiar or comfortable with jazz fusion.

Bought this on beautiful green vinyl. Would probably considered this album boring if I was just casually listening to it on Spotify, but listening to this on a physical media is really great, would've probably not listened carefully to this if it wasn't for the purchase. Great album!
