A new year has begun and with that labels are releasing their first releases of hope, hope that the new year will be a even better than the last.
And for German's Limb Music 2005 begins with one of the oldest German Melodic act still active, Domain.
Their new album, their first on Limb, their first concept album, "Last Days of Utopia" was not a bad choice as the first album of the year.

I never understood why Domain never seemed to gain a fanbase, with many really good albums they should get more recognition than they get. Here we got a really good melodic metal concept album which showcase both great music skills and high quality song writing. The prog influenced "On Stormy Seas" is a amazing journey, the ballad "The Beauty Of Love" is moving and the finishing "Underneath The Blue/ Left Alone" wraps up the concept in a very atmospheric way. There is a however a drop of quality in the songs 7-9 which forces me to give this one only a rating of 8.

If you planning to pick this one up you should search for the 2 disc version, the "non-epic mix" songs aren't that exciting but the exclusive "Head Above the Water" and the re-recording of "Caught in the Flame" is nice to have.
