With this album, the intro U Nabe Banbal sets up the mood with spoken words and female chanting. Once again Leftander gives us an opportunity to enjoy his mix of melodic/atmospheric doom metal with Mesoamerican themes (this time he pays tribute to the Mayan culture). The nice addition to the musical cocktail of Raxa on this record is the clean vocal performance of Lefthander. While the vocals aren't very potent, they still help to create the right ambience. On the other hand, soaring guest vocals of Yana Veva on Mun take you for a flight over the majestic and ancient Mayan pyramids.
In the end, for me Rabinal Achi is not only my favourite Raxa album, but also an example of how ethnic metal album should sound like.
Favourite tracks: U Nabemul Ca Chau Queche-Achi, Mun, Roxmul Ca Chau Rabinal-Achi.
