Hmm, could you explain what you mean by that ? I never heard about that measure.

it's the difference between the quietest and loudest, if a song is too compressed the song sounds "constricted" and less detailed
some people say it should be at least 8, i would say 6 is OK in many cases
for eletronic music (darksynth, synthwave, EBM) a a low DR doesn't seem do affect the music too much
and all thanks to the idiotic loudness 2 war, as the music industry pushed the model "louder is better", so to increse volume you have to constrict the music and lose detail
thats also what happenes with mosty remasters, they get louder and lose quality, thus many people prefer the original version

just look at this comparison between DR3 and DR9 - see how flat the first song is
