Soprano Dianne van Giersbergen (1985) received her first singing lessons as a birthday present from her parents when she turned four. In the following years she was taught by various music teachers and she sang in several choirs.

In 2005 she started her studies in classical music at the Artez school of music where she was taught classical singing by Elena Vink. During her studies she was a trainee at the Nationale Reisopera and she took master classes from Barbara Hannigan, Barbara Schlick, Dr. Maribeth Dayme, Claudia Patacca, Lodewijk Meeuwsen, Riekje Bakker and Felix Schonenbaum, among others.

In addition to the classical repertoire in her spare time Dianne brushed up on popularmusic with singing teacher Jolanda Geven.
19th May 2009 she rounded off her Bachelor's with distinction.

At the moment Dianne is in the second year of her Master's studies at the Artez school of music. She is now specializing in classical songs and arias from the Romantic period to contemporary works. Furthermore she is taking composition lessons and musicians commission her to write poetry for them. In the first year of her Master's studies she was chairwoman of the 'New Artez Student Association', a group of Master's students focusing on the organization and performance of interdisciplinary classical music concerts.

During her Master's studies Dianne's teachers were Elena Vink, Claudia Patacca and Constantin Nica. She hopes to graduate in 2011.
Dianne is a versatile singer who is not restricted to a single style. Apart from recitals and performances in the classical realm she regularly does concerts as the lead singer of the band Ex Libris. Ex Libris writes and performs progressive rock with symphonic influences. At the moment the band is recording its second cd 'Medea', based on the story from Greek mythology.
