Biography
Silence's hour of birth was already back in 1995. Similarly to most bands in initial stage, Silence made first musical efforts (which are not really worth mentioning).
In 1999, the Bands work became more concrete and so, at the turn of the millennium, they recorded their first album "Enola". The CD was released as beautiful digipack (its artwork refined by Swede Niklas Sundin who has worked among others for Sentenced, In Flames), consisted of 7 songs and 35 minutes and was our first big success. The band got exclusively positive, partly euphoric reviews. The bands tunes were even then remarkably catchy. Being catchy and rather melancholic, the songs stroke the right chord for many listeners, critics and magazines. Enola was f..ted in the press and was among others elected CD of the month by the magazine Metal Hammer.
The band spent the next two years promoting Enola through extensive live gigs. Different successful shows (among others at festivals and open-airs in France, Austria and Northern Germany) were the result.
Having matured through innumerable live shows and having lots of good new songs, Silence went once more to the studio to record the second album "The p/o/u/r Letters" in summer 2003. The band has made a lot of progress concerning the sound and the writing of songs; as a result of this and of the great ambiance among the band members, the new CD is about 300% better than "Enola". The eight songs contained capture the ups and downs of emotions. The p/o/u/r letters is a conceptual album in which songs, lyrics and artwork form an impressing whole. The lyrics of the different songs represent the pages of a diary reflecting the (negative) thoughts and emotions of a desperate person. Hopelessness, rage, loss and mourning are discernible in the music as well as in the lyrics. The band manages to convey the mood of the music also while playing it live. As a result, the reviews of Silence´s live acts are excellent to euphoric. Once more, the band made use of the services of Niklas Sundin, who reflects the mood of the music in a beautiful cover. The band has always stressed the importance of a having a layout to match sound and songs.
Once again the Band played a lot of shows, and shared the stage with numberous popular Bands (Crematory, Subway to Sally, End of Green, Festival-Shows with Dimmu Borgir, Soulfly...). "After a Decade of Depression we climbed the next step in songwriting and live-entertainment", that´s the band's opinion. More live shows, bigger festivals, tours. All these are hardly possible without a professional partner, professional promotion and marketing. The band has attained the reputation of an excellent live act and has kept its honest, down-to-earth style. The lineup is constant and has proved successful. The band is ready to work hard in order to achieve its goals. We have plenty of resources in the musical domain, and have already begun to write the songs for the p/o/u/r letters successor. The band has a big potential to be exploited; and the past has shown that we have always been able to improve even further.
In 2007 Silence recorded a 5-song E.P., called "Badtime Stories". In result of that, the Band signed a record contract with German Label Biohazzard Records (a division of Danse Macabre).
