Using nature, grief, solitude and desolation as his inspiration, he fills his sounds with such tangible darkness that the listener is inevitably wrapped up within them. Bands such as Winterfylleth and Fen have established themselves amongst the most well-known UK atmospheric black metal bands and it is now that And Now The Owls Are Smiling brings further intrigue and despair to this arena.

Having released the sombre 'Desolation' in 2018, the glorious 2019 follow-up 'The Comforting Grip Of Misery' sees Nre immerse himself with even greater vigour as he tackles themes of reconnection with the self in both productive and destructive ways. The album addresses the notion that, behind a smile, a noose may be tightening and only the peace and tranquility of the natural realm can loosen it. This album is an attempt to rest the troubled mind in an empty landscape.
