Biography
VARGSHEIM combine atmospheric Black Metal with dirty rock and German lyrics to a very own style, full of passion and energy.
From the remnants of "BLUTRUNST", the first line-up of the band was made up in 2005 with singer & guitarist Kaelt, singer & bassist Harvst and drummer Blutwolf. At the beginning of 2006 a demo CD will be recorded on its own, for which Harvst will draw the artwork for the first time. To this day he is mainly responsible for graphic design. Musically and lyrically, the band originally moved between depressive and pagan black metal, but with rock influences. A short time later there is the first and only ine-up change and Naavl takes over the drums. Nothing has changed in this line-up since the first appearance in 2007.
In 2008 the split CD "VARGSHEIM vs HLIDSKJALF" will be released with Naavl's solo project HLIDSKJALF as a self-release. In the same year the three join the black metal band IMPERIUM DEKADENZ as live musicians, with whose members Vespasian and Horace they have been close friends ever since. Numerous joint appearances at home and abroad are evidence of this.
VARGSHEIM signed with DÜSTERWALD PRODUKTIONEN for the release of the first album "WELTFREMD" in 2010. The pieces on it are much more rocking than on the first releases, but also more progressive and stylistically more open.
In 2011 the split CD with IMPERIUM DEKADENZ will be released via DWP.
With their second album "ERLEUCHTUNG" VARGSHEIM switched to MDD-RECORDS in 2013. Thematically, the band has finally broken away from the Pagan aspect and deals more with the critical questioning of basic human characteristics such as the search for belief and truth. The sound behind it can be described as rocky yet atmospheric Black Metal. This is still determined by Kaelt's conceptual songwriting, whereby the pieces are already becoming more catchy.
"DREAMS OF THE SLEEPLESS" will follow in 2015. The songwriting has changed and is increasingly happening together in the rehearsal room, which makes the pieces more compact. As a result, the stage shows are becoming more energetic and multifaceted. The lyrics on the album deal, among other things, with losses from private life.
In 2019 the fourth album "SONS OF THE SUN" will be released. VARGSHEIM combine the working method of "ENLIGHTENMENT" with that of "DREAMS OF THE SLEEPLESS" and create a multi-layered album with dense songs and more musical finesse than its predecessor. "SONS OF THE SUN" is about human arrogance and overconfidence, seen in a personal as well as in a historical context.
