Biography
Luca Turilli is one of the most brilliant figures on the current metal scene. As composer and guitarrist of the Italian Hollywood Metal formation RHAPSODY, he has thousands of adoring fans all over the world, who share his passion for epic, orchestrally influenced Melodic Metal. After four album and one EP releases RHAPSODY are amongst the best selling bands of the entire metal scene and are constantly seen in the international Charts. The group's tours are very well attended all over the world and are always seen as concerts of a special kind. With his first solo album 'King Of The Nordic Twilight' two years ago Luca was able to prove very effectively that even as a solo artist he definitely has his own identity.
All the tracks on the EP (with the exception of ´I´m Alive') were composed by Luca himself. It was produced by Sascha Paeth and Miro (Angra, Kamelot, Rhapsody, Heavens Gate, Virgo etc.) in Gate-Studio and Pathway Studio in Wolfsburg, Germany. As on his first solo album Luca was again able to win the support of German vocalist Olaf Hayer to put his voice to the material. Miro played the keyboard parts whilst the drum work was carried out by Robert Hunecke-Rizzo. Producer Sascha Paeth played bass as well as acoustic and additional guitars. In keeping with tradition Luca paid special attention to the design of the cover which again came from the brush of artist Marc Klinnert (Rhapsody, Gun Barrel, Axel Rudi Pell etc). Luca Turilli was born on 5th March 1972 in Trieste, Italy. His father was an independent musician and played cello and other instruments in an orchestra. Luca turned to his attention seriously to the guitar when he was sixteen years old. Until that time he had learned and played the piano and flute. His musical icons are above all Antonio Vivaldi, Niccoló Paganini and Johann Sebastian Bach. His absolute favourite piece is Paganini's '24 Caprizi' and he greatly respects the American guitarist Jason Becker. His greatest passion is however for film soundtrack composers such as Jerry Goldsmith, Danny Elfman, Basil Poledouris etc. Luca describes their work as ´The classical music of the new millenium'. Luca formed the band Thundercross in 1993 and this resulted in RHAPSODY about two years later. It is with RHAPSODY that his huge international success came in the form of the best-selling albums 'Legendary Tales' (1997), 'Symphony Of Enchanted Lands' (1998), 'Dawn Of Victory' (2000), the special price album 'Rain Of A Thousand Flames' (2001) and the latest long player 'Power Of The Dragonflame' (2002). These works have made Luca a globally respected guitarist and composer in the short time of five years. RHAPSODY toured as co-headliner with Stratovarius and last summer as headliner with Angel Dust and At Vance, a tour which took them as far as Asia and South America. Luca released his first solo work in September 1999 under the title of 'King Of The Nordic Twilight' and the story is continued now with 'Prophet Of The Last Eclipse' and the forerunner 'Demonheart', although Luca has gone a step further with the exciting sound effects for his newly created 'Symphonic Cosmic Metal'.
