Biography

FireWolfe began its melodic metal mission in 2010. It all started out of a conversation between guitarists Nick Layton and Paul Kleff. The two shared many guitar and musical influences and immediately started to lay the groundwork and musical vision for a new band. Paul and Nick began writing heavy, melodic and powerful music together with an emphasis on great songs featuring killer guitar work. The ultimate goal was to assemble a band that made the kind of music they themselves would want to listen to and to create an album that they would stand in line to buy.

As, the writing progressed, their focus shifted to finding the right voice—a voice that would be able to transform the rough ideas into world class melodic metal songs. The one name that kept coming up over and over again was veteran Rock/Metal vocalist David Fefolt. Nick and Paul felt that David’s style of singing would perfectly fit the vision of the music they were creating. In addition, Fefolt’s experience in working with bands and musicians like Valhalla, Masi, Hawk, Angels of Babylon and David Ellefson from Megadeth was a major plus. Some phone calls were made, rough tracks were sent over, and David was immediately on board as the voice and front man of the band.

As writing continued with David over the summer months of 2010 the band got a tip from a friend for a potential drummer. Jay Schellen, whose work includes records and tours with Hurricane, Asia, Badfinger, Unruly Child and currently with the Vegas super show Raiding the Rock Vault was hired to play drums on the record and has since become a full time member of the band.

The band needed a name and wanted something magical and classy to portray its music and style. After a few misfires, the band decided on FireWolfe as the perfect name to represent them. The band hired London based artist PJ to create a logo for the band and the legend and vision of the FireWolfe finally came to life!

Songwriting for the debut album was complete in the spring of 2011 and recording of drums and bass (session bassist Zack Uidl) was complete by early summer. The band tabbed John Payne (Asia) and Jay Schellen to mix and master the album in Los Angeles and the self-titled album FireWolfe was released on July 15th 2011. Reviews for the album were great and the band signed a record deal with Japanese label Rubicon Records in the fall of 2011.

Some inner turmoil within the band threatened to dissolve FireWolfe but the vision remained, and David and Nick full of energy and fire began writing the next Firewolfe album in early 2013. Jay Schellen was back on drums and after a long search Bobby Ferkovich joined the band on bass. Bobby has played
with bands such as Heir Apparent, Presto Ballet, Power Train and the Pamela Moore (Queensryche) band. The recording for the new FireWolfe album entitled We Rule The Night was completed in the spring of 2014 and represents a major step forward for the band. Eliran Kantor (Testament) created the artwork for the new album and Jay and John once again created an excellent mix at their new location in Las Vegas. Mastering genius Maor Appelbaum (Halford, Malmsteen) mastered the album in Los Angeles.

Shortly after completing the album the band inked a worldwide deal with Limb Music, to be released in September of 2014.

With a killer line up of experienced and fired up musicians, backed by a great label, FireWolfe is ready to Torch the Metal World in 2014!
