Biography
Soaring, powerful, passionate vocals, amazing guitarwork combining playing ability with feel and emotion, a powerful, tightly-knit rhythm section. And, above all, great songs, combining technical merit and listenability to create a killer combination! Worldwide fans of Canada's Ivory Knight have long known this description of the band.
Ivory Knight was founded in 1987 by singer John Devadasan Perinbam and drummer Paul Malek, who played drums on the famous Annihilator demos. The band recorded a demo "Voices In Your Nightmare" which received excellent reviews from all over the world. Despite this, the band broke up in 1990 due to musical differences. Perinbam reformed the band in late 1999 with drummer George Nesrallah , bassist Steve Mercer, and guitarist Rob Gravelle. After a hiatus from 2005-2013, THE KNIGHT RIDES AGAIN!
The band has recorded 2 full-length CDs which have both received accolades from critics throughout the world including Greece, Germany, Japan, Argentina, Italy, Sweden, the U.S., and Canada. The latest album, 'Unconscience', was mixed by Jeff Waters (Annihilator), received airplay on many College / University and Internet radio stations. The support that the band received from radio stations and their listeners helped propel Ivory Knight, at the time, into the top 5 on several associated Metal charts, alongside established acts like Judas Priest and Bruce Dickinson! All this without being signed to a label!
Ivory Knight also delivers the goods live! The band has brought its energetic live performances, starting in the late 1980s, to venues including Ottawa's Barrymores, Porter Hall, and (now-defunct) Roxannes in Hull, Cafe Dekcuf, the Rainbow, Clydes Showbar (Montreal), the Whipping Post and many others. Ivory Knight has shared the stage with many great acts including Sonata Arctica, Sword, and Blackstar (featuring John Ricci and Jacques Belanger of Exciter).
