Biography
Bound and Gagged was started in 1999 after the disbandment of Inhuman Gestation. The band members played musical chairs and began with the base of Mike Crothers on vocals, Shawn Connors on drums and Erik Hudson on guitar. They quickly wrote three songs and tracked a four track demo and disbanded. After being estranged for two years, the members reunited to play their first show. The band's skill having much improved during their hiatus, decided to re-track their demo. The demo was enough to grab the attention of United Guttural Records. The band was signed a deal before they could even distribute the demo through the underground.
The band needing to put together a full album of material in a short time, enlisted Scott Farruggia to fill the bass vacancy. Scott had been in a band called, Iniquitous with Mike once upon a time. The band quickly wrote seven more songs and began work on "Fornicate the Gutted." They enlisted Tim Rusin with RMS Recordings to track the disc. The album was released at Milwaukee Metalfest 2002. The band also performed that year.
The band played several shows in the Chicagoland area to promote the album including performances with Fleshgrind, Anal Blast, Lupara, Putrid Pile, Dead For Days, Mutilated, Sik Fuk, Decrypt and Reprobation to name a few. They also participated in several festivals including Milwaukee Metalfest, Central Illinois Death Fest, Ohio Death Fest, Chicago Metal Devastation, Southern Slamfest, Windy City Deathfest, The Midwest Showcase of Sickness, etc...
In 2003, the band boarded a 15 passenger van with Screaming Afterbirth and Dyscrasia and set forth on what was dubbed "HATE" tour. Though much hardship was endured during the venture, but the shows were over all a success. So much so that b/a/g/ hit the road again going west in 2004 on a headlining tour.
The band returned and took a break from shows to work on their second album. They finished writing in 2006 and began tracking with Tim Rusin again. This time at the infamous JBTV Studios in Chicago. However, financial issues slowed down the process. Unfortunately, the band dissipated before the album was finished. The band unknowingly played their last show September 30th, 2006.
Sometime after, Shawn and Erik tried to get the momentum going again and started on a new song, but nothing ever came of it. Erik and Mike placed their attention towards a new band called, the Grey Matter. Mike eventually left to play with Shawn and Scott again in the Dawn Of Iniquity. The Grey Matter trickled down into a new project called, Divine Element. Shawn and Scott, also devote spare time to their experimental side project, Raping Rodeo. The band is currently, shopping a collection of unreleased materials, demos, live songs, etc... Nothing is set in stone as yet.
