Heulend Horn's story starts by 2002, when the only member of the band, Friedrich Curwenius, composed a complete full length far from the style of the music of his another project, called Mitternacht. This new album was entirely inspired but not copied in the work of Graveland, Lord Wind, Bergthron, Wyrd, Summoning and many others pagan and epic black bands.

For the first and second releases, two session vocalists, Vargulf and Lord Edwar, were called to join.
In the third release, vocals were performed by F. Curwenius, with lyrics written by Lord Edwar. This third album comes after a while, but bringing a real extreme pagan black metal
