Biography
SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY appeared with the speed of spaceship among the best acts from the Czech metal scene. But still - it wasn´t so much unexpected. The listeners and the critics knew immediately after the releasing of IRON debut in 1996 that ?there is something in the air". The expectation exploded two years later when SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY came with the second masterpiece BEHIND THE SHADOWS. This album was doubtless the milestone in the career of the band. SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY confirmed their high quality standard also with the third album THEMES in 2000, which was awarded Czech GRAMMY in hard'n'heavy genre.
A year after that, the band almost completely changed their line-up and started to work together with one of leading Moravian ethno musicians Tomá? Koèko. After three years of their cooperation here comes the new SSOGE album called RELIC DANCES.
Tomá? Koèko, as a producer, has extended an invitation for the realization of this musical delicacy to the one of prominent Moravian dulcimer music ensemble Rado?ov. The result was an album full of metal energy and power, expressive Moravian melodics and surprising relations between doom metal sorrow and melancholy and a grief of Moravian traditional ballads. The RELIC DANCES album, inspired by the oldest shapes of Moravian tunes, which through its roughness and raw poetics just incites to a fusion of hard music and colours of Moravian folklore, contains eight songs, whose duration is a humble consent to traditional form of folk ballad. We can call the final shape easily as an ?ethno metal".
Czech musical Academy awarded RELIC DANCES album GRAMMY award (called ?Andìl" - ?Angel" in english) as the best hardrock album of the 2004 year as-well-as Czech hard'n'heavy publicist symposium called BRITVA (?Razor").
SILENT STREAM OF GODLESS ELEGY have played hundreds of gigs and festivals, supported bands like Anathema, Cradle Of Filth, The Gathering, Korpiklaani, Trail Of Tears and Skyclad on their gigs in Czech Republic and had live appearances in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Hungary within fifteen years of band's run.
The new album will be released worldwide by SEASON OF MIST in January 2011.
