Created by Vincent Urbain (aka Lord V.), the trilogy was initiated in 1993 under the name of DAEMONIUM : Opera Of The Ancient War Spirit (Or Search The Light) (Adipocere Records). Directed under the form of a one-man band and inspired by a form of esoteric mysticism, he told us about the initiatory path of Serphanim, a warrior with extraordinary destiny. The album was a real revelation, praised by the international press since it was one of the first to mix extreme metal, medieval music and classical music.

In 1995, AKHENATON, the second part of the trilogy, was born with the album Divine Symphonies (Adipocere Records). It was the consecration: this mixture of occult atmospheres and Black/Death Metal gave a new vision of extreme metal. The record was Album of the Month in some French magazines (including Metallian), receiving also excellent echoes abroad (England, Germany, Japan, Italy...). These first two opus sold more than 25,000 copies, all supports, at a time when illegal downloads and streaming did not exist.

2012, year of the presumed Apocalypse predicted by the writings Mayas, Vincent reactives his project under the name of SANGDRAGON. The 3rd opus of the trilogy, produced by Sangdragon and Stéphane Buriez (Loudblast), released as Requiem For Apocalypse in May 2015, by Wake Up Dead Records, with a distribution of Season Of Mist.

This time, Vincent surrounded himself with talented musicians and friends (Edouard Verneret, Matt Asselberghs, Will Hien, Régis Cognard, Alison Forest, Olivier Casula...) to deliver on album and live an epic and occult symphony, against a backdrop of powerful and devastating metal riffs. The reception of the audience was incredible, allowing the band to play in many prestigious venues and festivals in France such as the Motocultor, but also to perform in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium...

Thanks to the success of the album, and at the express request of the fans, the band released in July 2016 Thy Mystic Trilogy, a triple vinyl gatefold limited to 500 copies, bringing together the three albums of the Trilogy. For this unique occasion, Wake Up Dead Records and Adipocere Records join their forces. For this special event, Adipocere Records exceptionally relaunches its label business activity in sleep for years!

2020 sees SANGDRAGON‘s line up evolve with the arrival of the prodigy Florian Iochem (Catalyst) on guitars and talented Léo Mouchonay (Avaland) on drums to prepare the new band’s record. Given the band’s inability to perform live because of Covid-19, Vincent decided that Hierophant, the new record, will be a double album, with one “Black Dragon” extreme metal side and a more ambient, folk and medieval “White Dragon” side, thus offering an exhaustive view of what the Mystic Trilogy is in 2023!
