Biography

Frozen Pain was formed in the city of Jacarei-SP, in April 1996, by Márcio Gárgula after playing bass in a thrash band in the eighties. He wanted to play in another band with a style whose influence is based on bands like Cathedral, Carcass, Lynyrd Skynyrd and My Dying Bride among others. For this Gárgula invited members of his former band, drummer Eros Seixas, guitarist Shinji Sakai and bassist Anísio into this anonymous band that was looking for a name that summed up the whole essence of what came to be called later Frozen Pain. This name is due to the fact that the lyrics portray the dark nature of man as he merged his melancholy and morbid lust.

Marcel, a guitarist who had impressed Gárgula, joined the band giving completeness to the first line-up. With the emergence of the first compositions, the band began performing in small venues organized throughout the region reaching a significant festival in 1996, which brought Pentacrostic, Torture Squad and other bands.

But in February 1997, Anísio and Marcel left the band due to musical differences causing Shinji to take over the responsibility of writing both guitar parts and Gárgula hitherto vocalist, to assume the bass. This period as a hard power-trio is rewarded with the recording of the demo-tape Frozen Songs that had received lots of praise in Brazil around zines, including the prestigious magazine Rock Brigade by the sound quality that varies between doom and stoner metal.

From this emerged several invitations for the band to perform at festivals, which they almost got play in 1999, and a deal with a major record label. Although the deal did not work out due to the economic crisis faced by the country at the time.

In July 2000, W. Junior was brought into Frozen Pain to replace Shinji, who had left the band for personal reasons, which did not prevent him from making his final live appearance in August of the same year.

In January 2001, Eros decided to leave the band forcing the two remaining members to persevere by revamping the entire line-up. In May of the same year, guitarists Diny and Guto were integrated into Frozen Pain, and then in October Shiroma took over the drumsticks completing the line-up at the time with three guitars.

Ready to hit the road, the new lineup played in many places: in Jacarei and region (Paraíba Valley) and outside, like Botucatu and Lorraine. To compensate for the two years of exhaustive testing to create a strong rapport, Frozen Pain came to play in the city of Caraguá alongside a band of great national renown in 2003.

Unfortunately with the passage of time, wear to the band is inevitable leading to the outlet W. Junior and Guto. For there is no delay in the training of a new guitarist, Shinji was invited back to join the Frozen Pain, since some tests suffice to recall the melodies. Then in May 2003, Shinji returned to the band has a show scheduled, in which he showed a great performance.

In 2006 the band released it's debut album, Remembrances.
