Biography
Dorsal Atlântica was founded in 1981 and until today is one of the most popular Brazilian metal acts. During their career, the band recorded seven studio albums, the last of them in England during 1996 with producer Paul Johnston (Cathedral, Bolt Thrower, Benediction). The band performed with various international acts like Venom, Exciter, Nasty Savage, Testament, Motörhead, Cradle Of Filth and Anathema.
At the 1998´s festival Monsters of Rock in São Paulo, Brazil, Dorsal Atlântica played with Manowar, Saxon, Glenn Hughes, Megadeth, Savatage, Slayer and Dream Theater.
Carlos Lopes, founder of the band, gave his testimony about the Brazilian metal to the Canadian documentary Global Metal by Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen in 2007. The band returned in 2012 to record a new album because of a well-succeed crowdfunding campaign. 2015 begins with a new album called Imperium, a Thrash Opera about imperial brazilian history, human relations and politics and the release of Guerrilla documentary, directed by Frederico Neto and co-directed by Alexander Aguiar, and the reissues of the first 3 albums in China.
