Biography
The early days of The Sound Ex were a blur of fifteen minute sets that ended in injury and/or threats of violence. They played with bands such like The Dirtbombs and The Subways and decided to ditch potential careers in professional football and librarianism to make a beautiful musical racket. By early 2004 they had become one of the fiercest live bands in the North of England and signed to Newcastle based Captains Of Industry, who released two extremelylimited edition singles - 'Time After Time' (September 2004) and 'Street Freak' (March 2005) and the bands self titled debut album (June 2005). Recorded over two frantic weekends in 2004, The
Sound Ex's self-titled album 'The Sound Explosion' (as they were then known) was released June 2005 to much critical acclaim.
In the Summer of 2006 and two hundred gigs later both headlining and as support to various bands including The Datsuns, The Mooney Suzuki, Amen, The 5678's, The (International) Noise Conspiracy the band entered the studio with the Paul Reeve who had previously worked with the likes of Muse and Supergrass- the band signed up for a 4 week stint at the legendary Sawmills Recording studios in deepest Cornwall with him and proceeded to record 14 tracks of intensely head on rock and roll - as usual ignoring all musical trends and instead following their desire to make classic British Rock music. The band are now signed to the extremely successful Indie Rock Label 'Demolition Records' (coincidentally also in their hometown of Newcastle) and their album 'Palomino' was released October 13th
