Biography
Ground Of Ruin were a five piece metal band from Ireland. Formed in November 2003. The band went through some minor line-up changes but has mostly had the same members throughout. A small amount of self titled promos were released in 2005, in order to start playing gigs locally. In 2006, the first official Ground Of Ruin EP was released called 'Visions Of Obscenity'. 'Promo 2007' was released the next year with one new song and a re-recorded track from the 'Visions Of Obscenity' EP. The band played many gigs between 2005 and 2008 and built up a reputation of consistently delivering a tight and focused live performance. Due to this they were given many prestigious gigs alongside bands such as Desaster, Destruction and Mourning Beloveth amongst others. The band has also played Irish festivals such as Day of Darkness and Winterfest as well as playing major festivals abroad such as Way of Darkness and Q.O.M. Open Air in Germany. 'Cloaked In Doctrine' was the second official EP release, arriving in December 2008. It received critical acclaim and is considered to be the release that best represents the bands work over the years. D.Hynes left the band in 2009. The band continued on as a four piece, writing towards an album and playing occasional gigs in between. In October 2010, the decision was taken to dissolve the band before the recording of the first album. There was many reasons for the split but it was mainly due to conflicting schedules which meant some of the members were unable to continue.
