Biography
The band started out as a livingroom jamming party which consisted of Sigurgrimur on guitar and vocal, Edda on guitar and Halli Shoshan on bass guitar. A long time friend of Sigurgrímur, Aðalbjörn Tryggvason from Sólstafir was quickly recruited as a jamming member and some 3 songs were hammered together. Obviously Aðalbjörn was never considered as a permanent member of the band because of his position in Sólstafir so the hunt for a permanent drumer was on. During the fall of 2005 Sigurgrímur came in contact with Gunni Svenn, a young aspiring drummer in a metalcore band named In Dreams I Conquer All. Gunni agreed to join the band which was given the name Elegy.
The group immediately booked it's first concert on the following day and had two months to write more material and rehearse it for the gig. In the next 8 months the band played 3 more gigs, one of them as support for Municipal Waste in Reykjavík. With an arsenal of 6 completed songs, the band hit Stúdíó Helvíti (Studio Hell), which Sigurgrímur co-owns and operates, to record the first demo that now goes by the name "Undefied Fear". During the recording sessions, due to personal reasons, the band fell out and split up.
Sigurgrímur and Gunni were now in search for new members and a new name, after the discovery that Elegy was already taken by another group. After a tip on a new bassguitarist from Gísli of Sororicide/Changer, Sigurgrímur contacted Atli, an acquaintance from the early death metal scene in Iceland and 2 became 3. After a ahort brainstorming session, Helshare was chosen as the bands new name, it's roots deriving from nordic mythology. Helshare then started rehearsing as a 3 piece and speculating on a second guitarist. Then in late 2006 we found our man, Dolli was signed on and with our first concert booked on the 16th of December, things started moving on! In the end of 2007 Dolli left the band and Helshare has continued as a trio since then.
