Biography
Renowned for their energy, atmosphere and power, "The Occult Metal Legends" (BW&BK) NECRONOMICON have been constantly on the road since 2001, sharing stages with important bands like Morbid Angel, Mercyful Fate, Cannibal Corpse, as well as performing direct support on the road for bands like Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth, to name but a few.
Considered by many as "The only Black/Death metal worth listening in North America" (David Perri, BW&BK), NECRONOMICON aims for nothing less than the top, and for that reason alone, the band tends to leave an unforgettable mark wherever they perform.
A few years after the band was formed, the 1994 debut EP "The Silver Key" brought them international attention. But it was the full-length album that followed, "Pharaoh of Gods", that brought them worldwide media acclaim. Their ever-growing fan base became stronger with the next release "The Sacred Medicines", securing the band important distribution deals in several countries. Major touring started not long there after, launching NECRONOMICON on their biggest and longest tour to date.
In 2009 the band recorded their latest effort. NECRONOMICON's highly anticipated release "The Return of the Witch". This powerful and occult themed album promises the strongest, fastest, and most precise material ever written by the band. The Canadian pioneers of extreme dark metal worked hard on their journey to conquest and with the worldwide release of the new album via Napalm Records in 2010, the band plans to set foot on the old continent for the first time.
The video clip for the album's first single "The Time Is Now" has recently been made available for worldwide streaming. This audiovisual work is rendered with high professional quality in an effort to promote the recording internationally. Plans for another video clip are already in motion and the band hopes to present it not long after the official release of "The Return Of The Witch" in early June 2010.
NECRONOMICON celebrates the return of the witch with dark rituals and obscure incantations, transforming the latest album into an excessive orgy. Frenzied blastbeats, deadly double bass interludes, all-crushing riffs, and brutal vocals welcome the listener into the blasphemous world of NECRONOMICON. Complete with a bestial sound, the band easily combines their caliginous vision and uncompromising heaviness to create a tenebrous inferno that pays homage to the dark powers with commanding intensity. The artwork follows this lead to impressively capture the murky atmosphere. "The Return of the Witch" is an aggressive and destructive black /death metal work ready to fascinate even the most discerning fans of Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth.
