Imperial Vengeance is a British extreme metal act formed in 2007 by C. Edward Alexander (Vocals, Guitars and Orchestration) and David Bryan (Bass, Lyrics). in an attempt to explore ideas and material firmly rooted in the glory days of the British Empire and presenting a wide range of subjects influenced by its' colourful social and military histories, theatre, literature and mythologies.
The early part of 2008 saw the release of the duo's first endeavour: a self released 4-track EP called "Death: August & Royal" and featured the drumming talents of William Drury, which was met with acclaim and led to the band inking a deal with legendary UK label Candlelight Records. The duo spent the rest of the year writing and then recording their debut album: "At The Going Down Of The Sun". Fuelled by absinthe and cigar smoke, the album contains ten tracks of what the duo have referred to as "Aristocratic Dark Metal" with the title track featuring a specially recorded passage from Harry Patch, who at the age of 110 was the last surviving tommy to have seen combat in the trenches of the Pashcendale. Mixed and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima and released 25th July 2009, the CD has been attracting considerable attention and very positive reviews.
The Autumn of 2009 was exceptionally busy for the band : In September a live lineup was revealed consisting of Elle Torry and James Murray on guitars and William Drury making way for new sticksman James Last, a promo for the track "6th Airborne Division" was shot at the 400 Company studios in London, and the recording of an EP in which the band cover the classic Madness song "Night Boat To Cairo". Most importantly, the band made it's blistering live debut at The Garage in London, opening for Chthonic closely followed by a set on Remembrance Sunday at Hellfire Festival at Birmingham's NEC to an audience of union flag waving fans.
Most recently work has begun on the band's second album - provisionally entitled "The Gas-Light Arias" which will be released in 2010.
