Biography
The long story of the gloomy stonerdoom rock band Reactor, dates all the way back to year 1997. A group of youngsters got together to make their dreams reality and to form a rock group. Though there were preceding lineups and band names before Reactor, this time it was different, the boys treated Reactor with more passion. Reactor's always been about the music.
In the center of all the lineup changes the brothers Antti and Tommi Siniranta always carried on and held on to the band not giving up on it. There were always good players willing to jump in. The final evolution in the lineup was in 2009 when bassist Janne Argillander joined the band. This finalized the lineup to its present form.
Musically Reactor had evolved from early day's pop rock, through hard rock all the way to doomish stoner rumbling. Reactor works in a very dynamic way. Every member brings a piece of their self to every tune, this creates a very interesting yet natural mixture of musical elements. Natural organic sound and feel has always been very important aspect of Reactor's sound. This is something the boys have always strived for. And this is something that has always been present in every Demo, EP and live show that they have recorded or played. It's the essence of Reactor's sound.
This natural sound and feel is exaclty what Reactor's debut album Gravity serves. Everything is kept simple and raw from the beginning to the end. The songs for this album have all matured with time and evolved into massive pieces of stonerdoom art. And seems to be the way the band has chosen as its path to traverse in the future. It's been moulded with time and is definitely rock solid.
