Biography

Fusing intensity and lyricism in a higher level and spreading melancholic melodies like disease, Serenity In Murder, the symphonic death metal sensation from Japan, will set sail on a journey to take the world by storm!

The youthful sextet was formed in 2008. Being a music fan with a diverse taste in such heavy metal acts as Equilibrium, Cradle Of Filth and Chimaira to Japanese pop like Miyuki Nakajima and Takako Okamura, guitarist Freddy wanted to pursue something more than just composing music and showing it to his friends, and decided to form a band. He played some demos to Emi, known as a female screamer/growler within the university at that time, who liked the music and agreed to join him.

The name of the band does come from the title of the Slayer song, but the reason why Freddy picked it was not just because he liked that particular song, but also liked the impact, its sound and the very "cold" atmosphere that the lyrics have.

For about a year after the formation, the band couldn't keep a stable lineup with the exception of Freddy and Emi, so they mostly spent the time composing songs. Meanwhile, through his childhood friend Shuntaro, Freddy was introduced to a skilled guitar player from Shuntaro's university. Freddy was surprised when he met Ryuji, because Freddy knew of him through his outstanding guitar playing videos on the internet. He showed his demos to both Ryuji and Shuntaro, both of whom agreed to join the band. Thus, in 2009, the band was finally ready to play live, although the rest of the lineup remained unstable and they could only play about 10 gigs that year.

Being a self-taught piano player, Shuntaro decided to switch from bass to keyboards, which helped the band move forward. Shortly after that, drummer Kazuki, from the same university as Freddy and Emi, joined the band, and with help from a junior at Ryuji and Shuntaro's university on bass, they finally secured a stable lineup. In January 2010, they appeared at Far East Rampage, a 2-day festival featuring strong headliners such as Light Bringer, Edge Of Spirit, Each Of The Days[b], [b]Survive[b], [b]Jurassic Jade[b] and [b]Diablo[b] (Korea), where they succeeded in leaving strong impressions upon the audience.

After playing numerous gigs, the band decided to enter the studioc. Under the guidance of Hiro, the guitarist of Japanese extreme metallers [b]Metal Safari
, they recorded four songs at his Studio Prisoner. The band took part in the compilation album Hell Gate with the song "Infact Bellum", and got rave reviews from the likes of Burrn!. Meanwhile, Takumi joined the band as a permanent bassist.

The original idea was to release these four songs as an EP, but in order to make it more attractive, they went back into Studio Prisoner in October 2010, and recorded three more songs. After these sessions, drummer Kazuki left the band for personal reasons, and was replaced by Shohei through an audition. A huge fan of Aquiles Priester (ex-Angra), he had made his drumming videos available on the internet, which caught the eye of Freddy.

With this new lineup, the band decided to record more songs to make it a full-length album. In May 2011, they entered the Studio Prisoner for the third time and recorded the final two tracks for their first official release, the full-length studio album The First Frisson Of The World, which was released to the world by Spiritual Beast in September 2011.
