Quadrivium - Biography
Biography
In late 2005, Erlend Antonsen and Lars Jensen started a project to experiment with the more avantgarde side of metal. The project was intended to be a quick affair with a demo consisting of two or three songs. Erlend would write and perform all the music while Lars would do all the vocals. The band name was resurrected from an earlier project that Erlend had been involved in and writing commenced in late 2005. Three songs were written and went on to form the Origo EP which was released in early 2006. Soon after this it was decided to write five more songs and aim for a full album release.
During the recording of the Adversus album, Svein-Ivar Sarassen was brought in to record the bass guitars. Recording, mixing and mastering of the Adversus album was completed in early 2007 and the band now went on to look for a label to release it. A deal was signed with Soulseller Records and the album was finally released in 2008.
Soon after the completion of the Adversus album, Attila Bakos joined the line-up and writing for the 2nd album Methocha began in earnest. This time everyone was aiming for a much higher level of writing, performing and sound quality compared to the first album. Writing was completed in 2009 and Erlend set out to expand the line-up. Thor-Axel Eriksen joined to do the guitars and Etienne Gallo joined to do the drums. Now followed a long process of recording which was not completed until the fall of 2012.
The release date of the album was set to November 23rd.
