Biography
Kryptos was formed in 1998 and is considered one of the leading heavy metal bands to emerge from India. Since their creation they have released three albums, 'Spiral Ascent' in 2004, 'The Ark of Gemini' in 2008 and 'The Coils of Apollyon' in 2013 all of which are considered cult classics in the Indian Metal underground.
With influences ranging from Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Candlemass to Mercyful Fate, Kreator and Coroner, Kryptos channels the spirit of these 80's metal masters to create a sound that still manages to sound as fresh and vital as it did back in metal's golden years.
After signing with OSM Records from California in 2007, Kryptos went on to support some of the biggest bands in metal like the mighty Iron Maiden, Dark Tranquillity, Kreator, Testament, Amon Amarth, Satyricon and many more. In 2010 Kryptos became the first metal band from India to do a cross country tour of Europe playing at the Rockmaraton Festival in Hungary and the In Flammen Open Air Festival in Germany along with more club dates in Germany and Switzerland.
After landing endorsement deals with ESP and Mapex, Kryptos also signed a publishing deal with ENORM Music from Germany before signing with the highly acclaimed German record label AFM Records. The third album, 'The Coils of Apollyon' was released worldwide in September 2012 and received rave reviews from all over the planet, featuring in many 'Album of the Month' lists and still continues to gather praise from all quarters since its release.
In July 2013 Kryptos once again made their way to Europe to play at the In Flammen Open Air festival for the second time followed by an appearance at the Ragnarock Open Air Festival and culminating with a fiery performance at the biggest heavy metal festival on the planet, Wacken Open Air, which proved to be one of the biggest milestones in the band's existence so far.
In the wake of the band's second successful European tour, Kryptos signed with Seaside Touring, Germany, one of the top metal booking agencies in Europe, which will ensure that the band's reputation as an incendiary live force will continue to gather apace all over the world.
With a new album already in the works and slated for release in 2015 and a first ever performance at the legendary Inferno Metal Festival in Norway, Kryptos will continue to blaze the trail for Indian heavy metal far beyond every conceivable boundary.
