The band was formed in Prague in 1993. In 1996, they released demo Bestial, Mystical And Spiritual (The First Spawn). In 1998, they recorded the album Freedom, Hope And Fury (The Second Spawn). By the end of the same year, the drummer Tomas Corn replaces Gabriel Pavlik and the band changes name to Lykathea Aflame.

In 2011, a remixed and remastered compilation of all the music by Appalling Spawn (meaning the album and the demo) was released under the name of All Spawns.
