Before THUNDERSTICK there was Barry Graham Purkis. an English drummer who played with such bands as 'Tiny and the Hot Toddies'..a no nonsense rock band.. the Italian outfit 'The Primitives' based in Sicily...touring all over Italy,Sicily and Greece'... Archer' a space folk rock band....'OZ' prog rock band and then finally ' Iron Maiden'... He also enjoyed a stint with Bernie Torme's 'Electric Gypsies'. It wasn't until his inclusion in the band 'SAMSON.' that the character .Thunderstick was born..Becoming a focal figure for the the emerging NWOBHM movement...Playing from inside a cage,the masked drummer would 'break out' during Samson gigs to terrorise audiences.

In 1981 the individual became a band. Highly theatrical the female fronted Thunderstick embraced the Hammer Horror/Edgar Allen Poe/Rocky Horror ideal A four track "Feel like Rock 'n' Roll?" (EP, 1983) and "Beauty and the Beasts" (LP, 1984). Were to be the band's releases,backed up by supporting tours.In 2011 Thunderstick himself remasterd these as well as large amounts of bonus material to release 'Echoes from the Analogue Asylum'. A third full feature album titled "Don't Touch, I'll Scream" (1985), has never been released ....Until now? It is Thunderstick's intention to re-record & release in 2017
