Swimming in waves of sentience
Drifting through my past life’s visions
Reaching for the clouds once again

Wrap me in a cloak of matter
For resurging, and taking form
Has proven to creak the boughs
Of this ancient soul, straining its might

What is this – a grand travesty
To behold the Earth consuming her foremost progeny
The very plains murmur
Of this giant sequoia
Of grand boughs
And glistening stipules
Teeming with life

Encumbered
By the persistent accumulation
Of the children who rise from the wetlands
I, the Grey Giant
Shed all excess –
Want not, ask not, demand not
For though I provide, I shan’t remain

Rays of Phoebus
Bear no prevalence in this, my semblant nightide
Lo, the plague which burdens this savannah
With longing,
With weakness, now deposed

Surrender/Envelope

I shall purge this land
Of all dessication
And banish the aridity from thy roots
Rivers and basins, brooks and lagoons
Shall grace this land anon

Small claws
Buried in bark
Seek the warmth
Of the waking sun

Avian choirs
Take flight in the glow
Caroling hymns
Of Elation

Titan Strength
Courses through
Robust Limbs

Honor and Grace
Fill each fruit

Advance toward
The age of flesh

Feathers mimic
The spectrum of light
Saturns firstborn
Sends a gift beyond compare

In the wake of the clouds,
In utopia,
Our oath frames the cycle;
The kingdom shall prosper

What drives the beast, the bird to flee on frantic wings
Sends shivers through the roots that hold this bridge to its violent fate

A sacrifice, laid out for our mother’s scorn
A “just” reward for the hubris of her grand creation

When
Titans Die
They swim in the resplendent light

And drink
Memories
As their paths converge and unite

But this visit,
Routine, and brief
Turns aside from Death’s muddling eyes

“Wander and chase
Your mortal shape”
Dared the mother I’ve defied
