On New Year's Eve 1984, Rick Allen was driving on a rural English road when he tried to pass another car. Rick's car skidded off the road and flipped over a brick wall into an open field. He lost his left arm in the accident. Determined not to give up, he created a special drum set that allowed him to play with just one arm.

In 1997, Phil Collen and Joe Elliott teamed up with Trevor Bolder and Woody Woodmansey from David Bowie's band The Spiders From Mars to go on a tour playing numbers from Bowie's Ziggy Stardust era, calling themselves Cybernauts. They had already played together on The Mick Ronson Memorial Concert in 1993. The album Cybernauts Live was released in 2001, exclusively over the Internet and in Japan. The 7-track bonus disc with studio tracks (1 Hendrix song and 6 Bowie songs) was only available with the Internet release.

On October 23, 1995, the band entered the Guinness Book of World Records by performing three concerts in three continents in one day (Tangiers, Morocco, London, England, and Vancouver, Canada).

Before Def Leppard came to the "Battery Studios" to record their album, a church choir used it to record some church hymns. When they left, someone left behind an open breviary, with a hymn that had the words "Rock of Ages". That gave the band the spark to write a song with the same title for their album "Pyromania", which was one of their greatest hits in the USA.
