Cattle Decapitation - Trivia
Monolith Of Inhumanity dealt with the future of Earth, if mankind keeps its current style of life. The Anthropocene Extinction deals with the results of mankind's influence on the environment, such as the Great Pacific garbage patch.
A music video was made for the song "Regret And The Grave", depicting an idea similar to the album cover, with the SWAT police driving numerous people onto the outskirts of a city, putting bags on their heads, and forcing them into cages. It also shows two people being led into a dark, abandoned slaughterhouse and a woman looking desperately out of her cage. All this is shown in between shots of the band playing in a slaughterhouse.
The album cover for Humanure is a parody of the cover of the Pink Floyd album Atom Heart Mother. The artwork was deemed grotesque by many retailers and they refused to carry it unless it was changed. The cover was edited, removing the cow, and leaving just a barren wasteland.
The album title To Serve Man is a reference to the Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man".
The band started as a three-piece with an unknown guitarist/vocalist, who soon allegedly vanished without the other members knowing anything of his whereabouts.
The band originally consisted of all vegetarians, but Josh and Travis are the only vegetarians in the band now.
Travis Ryan claims to own more than 2,000 CDs, an estimate of 50 of which he says are metal.
Cattle Decapitation's songs protest the mistreatment and human consumption of animals as well as the abuse of the environment. All members of the group are vegetarians, though their lyrics are focused on subjects such as misanthropy and the genocide of the human race. Through the use of macabre lyrical content the members of the band represent their views on animal rights.
The band is known for their support to organizations like PETA (which also nominated them as "sexiest vegetarians"). In addition, most artwork is often related to pro-animal rights and totally anti-human. |
