Type O Negative - Trivia

When Type O Negative first signed with Roadrunner Records, Peter Steele signed the contracts with a mixture of his own blood and semen.
Peter Steele appeared naked and with an erection in an edition of "Playgirl", thinking it was a magazine "for lonely housewives or something like that." Later on discovering it was read by homosexuals he decided to write the song "I Like Goils" which appears on the "Life Is Killing Me" album.
The cover photo of the 2007 album "Dead Again", is a portrayal of Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin, and likewise the lettering is faux-Cyrillic font.
There were unconfirmed rumors of Peter Steele's death after the band website posted an image of a tombstone bearing his name and the dates 1962-2005. According to an article dated May 14th, 2005, Steele was not dead; the gag was related to the release of the 2007 album "Dead Again".
They were formerly known as Subzero, but there was another band in New York under that name. So one day singer/bassist Pete Steele was reading the phone book and found some kind of advertisement like "Type O Negative blood needed" and they liked it.
