Highly influenced by 80´s thrash metal, Dark Funeral released an EP in 2000 "Teach Children to Worship Satan" with covers from Sodom, Slayer and King Diamond. Ahriman stated that besides paying tribute to those bands, they wanted to give the songs a "hellish Dark Funeral touch".

Dark Funeral is one of the most prominent acts in the Swedish metal scene known amongst fans as "The Ineffable Kings Of Swedish Black Metal".
