Firewind - Singer Takes Time Out Again, Replacement Announced
Firewind mainman Gus G. has just issued the following statement on the band's website:
"Dear all, Here's the latest news and facts. It seems that 2007 has been quite an adventurous year for our singer Apollo. He's currently having some problems back home and needs to take the next few months off. As our touring schedule is quite heavy, we will continue with a replacement and give him the time he needs to get back smoothly.
The German vocalist Henning Basse (Metalium) will step in from now on and complete all the 2007 tourdates with us. Henning has helped us already in the past on some shows on our last European tour with Angra. He really kicks ass on stage and is a great singer and performer, as well as a great guy. We're grateful to have him on board once again and you'll be surprised by how hard this guy rocks!
All our upcoming shows will go on as scheduled and announced - no Firewind shows will be cancelled! See you on the road soon!".

Greek Power/Melodic metal sensation Firewind are proud to present you their video clip for the song 'Breaking The Silence' (feat. Tara Teresa on guest vocals), which marks the band's 2nd single outtake in Greece off their critically acclaimed album "Allegiance". The clip was directed by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Company Sweden (Dimmu Borgir, Within Temptation, etc.) and you can now watch it at this location on Century Media's website or at YouTube here.
Firewind's Gus G comments on the video as follows: "So here it is! I hope you all dig our brand new video?I can tell you we had a blast doing it! Patric Ullaeus' videos are always a guarantee and it's an honour for us to work with the best of the best! Patric definitely made sure we had enough fire on this one and really brought things to a new level!"
The brand-new single was released on July 2nd, 2007 and is destined to continue the band's overwhelming success as the previous single "Falling To Pieces" managed to reach position # 11 in the official Greek single charts and brought some real Metal to the chart-lists for no less than eleven (!!!) weeks! Firewind - Singer Forced To Cancel Tour Dates, Replacement Announced
Greek Power Metallers Firewind have posted the following update on their official website:
"The second part of our World Allegiance Tour has already started and the first four shows have been fantastic so far! However, we're in the unfortunate position to announce that Apollo has to cancel the last seven dates of the European tour we're now on with Angra and Power Quest, due to a family emergency. Apollo will be performing the whole French leg of the tour, his last show being on February 25th in Toulouse. However, we've all discussed the situation and we decided to continue with a replacement singer. The person who will help us out in this difficult moment will be Henning Basse of Metalium. Henning is truly a world-class singer and a great frontman. We are excited to have him on board for the remaining dates! Please note that Apollo is NOT leaving the band, we have his blessings to continue as we all feel that canceling the rest of the tour would be the last option. Apollo will return for the UK headline shows and all upcoming tour dates."
Upcoming Firewind, Angra, Power Quest live dates include:
February
20 - Pratteln, Switzerland at Z7
22 - Lyon, France at Ninkasi Kao
23 - Paris, France at Elysee Montmartre
24 - Bordeaux, France at Barbey Theatre
25 - Toulouse, France at Havana Café
27 - Lisboa, Portugal at Cino Teatro de Corroios
March
1 - Madrid, Spain at Copernico
2 - Santiago de Compostela, Spain at Capitol
3 - Bilbao, Spain at Santana 27

Firewind - New Vocalist And Drummer
Greek Power Metal act Firewind has finally completed its lineup again. Apollo Papathanasio (Time Requiem, Gardenian, ex-Majestic) replaces former vocalist Chity Somapala who left the band about three weeks ago.
Apollo commented on the band's website:
"Hallo everybody this is Apollo. Since I met Gus in Gothenburg 4 years ago we became good friends and back then we always talked about working together in the future. Now here we are together, taking the Firewind music to a new level. I love Gus' guitar style and it's a pleasure to listen to their music. The guys in Firewind are real magicians and I'm happy that you're letting me be a part of this machinery. STAY METAL!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS!!!!"
Regarding the drummer situation, the band posted the following statement:
"Also, for purely logistical reasons we've decided to get a drummer that lives in Greece. We'd like to thank Stian Kristoffersen for his amazing drumming and the great times we had together the past 3 years. So, out goes Stian and in comes the monster drummer Mark Cross (x-Helloween, x-Metalium)!! Although Mark is 50% German and 50% British, he's been living in Greece for many years. This obviously makes rehearsals and preparations happen much easier."
Mark commented:
"Hello boyz and girlz!
Life's a spinning wheel and here I am aside to one of the few remaining great young guitar heros?. The Gus G. Firewindo metal fuckin' machine!
Looking forward to their next album, a tour and Firewind heading your way!
Cheers and greets,
Mark Cross"
The band is currently in pre-production mode with 8 new songs completed. The new album is expected to be recorded in early 2006 and Firewind plan to make their live debut with the new line-up @ Prog Power UK festival on March 25th.

Firewind - Confirmed Split-Up With Vocalist
Chity Somapala decided to leave the band due to "personal reasons". As consequence of this the band had to cancel their plan for "an extensive European tour" during this fall.
But the band is "already working with an incredible new vocalist and have 8 brand new songs that kick ass!!". However the band didn't reveal any details about who's the new vocalist.
Firewind expects to enter the studio sometime between later January and early February, but "nothing's confirmed by now".
