After signing an agreement to join the Alone Records roster late last year, the Greek doom metal masters On Thorns I Lay shared the first single from their upcoming album, mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö. Aegean Sorrow will be released on March 12th via Alone Records and The Vinyl Division. Leaving behind the gothic influences, it seems to be a return to the death doom roots. Blastfest 2017 is facing some controversy. The Norwegian fest will take place next February in Bergen but some of the bands announced so far will not be performing after all. One of them is French black metal band Peste Noire, who have been removed off the bill by the organizers due to antifascist groups pressures. The Finns Horna have also dropped off the bill in solidarity with Peste Noire.

Enslaved just announced a new release, but it isn't exactly a new album. The Sleeping Gods - Thorn will drop via By Norse Music on November 11th, and it will feature rare and experimental material from 2010/2011, collected for the first time as a full-length album. Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media (Roadburn Festival, Opeth, Darkthrone, At The Gates, etc.) once again did the new layout, including new illustrations.
