Nightwish - Album Ready To Be Mastered

Nightwish keyboardist and main composer Tuomas Holopainen recently issued the following update regarding the forthcoming album Imaginarium, slated for an early 2012 release:

"After three years of brainstorming and songwriting, over a year of rehearsing, arranging and studio work, this triumph of musical passion and piety is finally ready to be mastered. Yesterday, after a six-week mixing session in Studio C at Finnvox, I listened the whole thing from start to finish alone for the first time, and couldn't make heads nor tails of it. It's the same old story - the same feeling of bottomless emptiness that has marked the completion of all previous albums.

We could have honed the songs till Armageddon, but at some point you just have to let go and start admiring the scenery. This time, the landscape consists of 13 songs totalling 75 minutes. I think I'll probably be able to savour the end result only after a couple of months of mixing detox, but the encouraging comments by those near to me assure that it is a decent album. One person who heard Imaginarium called it "the greatest adventure he ever heard with his two ears".

Nightwish - Vocal Recordings Postponed

Remember that time Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon broke a few ribs when she tripped over a toy lying on the floor? Well, the band has now decided to postpone the new album vocal recordings until April 4th in order to allow her a longer recovery period.

Anette Olzon blogged as follows: "Today me, Ewo Pohjola (Nightwish manager) and mainman Tuomas Holopainen decided that its better if I rest the whole month and get in shape so I can do the vocals super good and have booked my vocal recordings from April 4 instead in another studio in Finland. This is really good cause noone will be happy if the album won't sound perfect. And we don't have any hurry since the album has plenty of time to get mastered and ready still.

So I´ll rest and rest and hopefully soon be able to move a bit more. I have now been lying down for a week and even if I can't do anything it is of course quite boring."

If all goes well, Imaginarium will be released in early 2012.

Nightwish - Vocalist Breaks Ribs

In a terrible home accident last Thursday, Nightwish singer Anette Olzon has tripped over a toy lying on the floor and broke a few ribs in the fall.

Here's the full story: "I sat with Nemo (her second son) in my lap at our dinner table and was gonna stand up and go to the couch and leave him over to Johan (that's Pain bassist Johan Husgafvel for you).

When I stand up, one of Nemo's toys are lying on the floor and I don't look down but just start to walk and whip! I slide on this wooden toy box and falls with my legs straight up and my whole body hits the floor so hard. To keep Nemo safe I hold him up and try to take the fall all by myself. When I fall down I fall on this wooden toy box straight on the side on my ribs. I loose all air and the pain and the sound when I hit the box was horrible. I screamed for so long and it was the worst pain ever felt.

Nemo luckily just scratched his head agains our couch so he got a burn-mark and he held his head up so great that it never fell down hard. His back and legs and himselves were just fine.

I took painkillers and tried to function normally but the pain got bigger and bigger, and I got a fever so after 2,5 hours I called to the emergency who told me to get in there. And already when the doctor saw my ribs she knew it was broken. There´s nothing to do to broken ribs, just painkillers and resting. So now I am lying here with strong pills and can't do anything. Life surely sucks at this time. Pain is horrible and I just hope I soon can get better from that."
