Omnium Gatherum - Guitarist Leaves The Band

After 13 years of service, guitarist Harri Pikka (also in Total Devastation) has fled left melodic death metal outfit Omnium Gatherum. The band issued the following explanation:

"We're really sorry to announce that Harri Pikka has silently decided to flee the Omnium Gatherum crew after 13 years of solid service. We don't know his exact reasons for this but maybe someday mr. Mystery Man will tell us... At the moment we've decided to finish the new album as a 5-piece unit. But we have the best possible live guitar unit called Joonas Koto (Malpractice, ex-To/Die/For, ex-Hateframe) filling the second guitar live duties at the moment and it rocks!"

Omnium Gatherum - Sign To Lifeforce Records

Finnish melodic death metallers Omnium Gatherum have signed a deal with Lifeforce Records. The band will enter the studio this month to record their fifth album and an early 2011 release is expected. The band issued the following statement:

"We're very pleased to announce that Omnium Gatherum is now a part of the Lifeforce Records family. After a lot of consideration and negotiating with many parties, we came to a conclusion that Lifeforce is the way to go! They've been showing the right kind of interest in us for some time now and it seems that they have the same honest attitude towards music and mayhem as we do.

The material for the 5th Omnium Gatherum masterpiece is now almost finished and we're ready and 100% confident to hit the studio in the end of August. This time we've really put a lot of time and effort on the pre-production of the stuff. It's going to be an epic and massive attack of ever flowing stream of Finnish "melodic death metal", straight from the souls of black.

The album will be out early spring 2011 and before that the Omnium Gatherum crew will escape from the studio and tour Finland with Dark Tranquillity."

Omnium Gatherum - Part Ways With Bassist

Omnium Gatherum have issued the following update:

"Shit happens again and we found ourselves again losing the bass player somewhere out in space. Eerik really surprised us all and decided to left the band this soon. No drama, no fights, no-thing, as we ain´t got a clue really whatta hell happened here! So - all the decent basstard candidates feel free to contact us on this case (ogatherum gmail com)!

However, this won´t affect in any way to our autumn touring and all the booked gigs and the european tour will be made & played..."

Omnium Gatherum - New Album This Year

Finnish Melodic Death Metallers Omnium Gatherum have issued the following update:

"OG will begin to record the 4th magnum opus extravaganza in March and this time the album will be done in three different studios; recordings will be done at Sound Supreme Studios by Janne Saksa and at SouthEastSounds by Teemu Aalto and the mixing and mastering will be done at legendary Unisound Studio at Örebro, Sweden by Dan Swanö (Nightingale, ex-Edge Of Sanity, ex-Bloodbath etc.) who´ve produced the albums for Opeth, Katatonia and Dissection for example. So, we could say that we´re really enthusiastic about this, surprise!

First time the album composing process have been really easy task and this pure fresh spirit can really be heard from the songs. The next level have been entered, so beware folks - autumn 2008 will be time for THE OG INVASION!"

In other news the band have posted the following: "Evile have cancelled "The Great British Fiction Tour" and this means that OG will be the main support act and are playing just before Dark Tranquillity - which means a little bit longer set list! Evile will be compensated with local opening acts. See ya in UK!!"

Omnium Gatherum - Part Ways With Bassist, Announce Replacement

The following update was posted on Omnium Gatherum's official website:

"We´re sad to inform that our long-time bass player for 10 years Janne Markkanen has decided to step aside from OG crew due to his lack of time and motivation for this type of music. There´s none bad blood between us and of course we wish him best of luck for whatever he is doing from now on.

Good news are that we have new fresh motivated blood in the crew as Eerik Purdon is our new bassist from now on and he´ll be looking after to create some demonic bottom pulse and groove to our noise. Eerik have been our good friend for some time and he also helped us and played bass on Omnium Gatherum's Summer Blast Fest Spain / Portugal -tour in June 2007 when Janne was unavailable to do the shows and the dude really showed his infernal talents and Omnium Gatherum attitude there! Eerik also plays in Crystal Blaze and he was acting session bassist in Amoral for their latest Finnish shows."

Janne's statement: "Thanks to everybody, Omnium Gatherum-dudes, other bands and fans for great times during these years. I really felt that it was time for me to step aside, and let someone with more enthusiasm to take my place. Eerik is a real bad-ass player and great dude, so be prepared for some major ass-kicking Omnium Gatherum material!"
