The line-up on the album will be the same as the line-up appearing on the mini-reunion-tour this spring.

After repeated requests from fans and concert promoters alike, Royal Hunt and their former lead singer DC Cooper mutually decided to reunite for a very few selected dates, in order to perform the entire Paradox (the band's first concept album from 1997) and several of "everybody's all-time favourite" songs from that period.

Royal Hunt - Sign With Scarlet Records
In a short update on the band's website, Royal Hunt have announced they signed a record deal with Italian label Scarlet Records for the European release of the new upcoming album, entitled X. An estimated release date is set for early June 2010.
Keyboard player André Andersen said the following about the new album: "This album came out of our love for the 70´s music (tagged as Classic Rock nowadays) - from Kansas, Genesis and ELP to Uriah Heep and Deep Purple - music which was/is very adventurous while just a tad naïve at the same time (as some might say). We all are notoriously resistant to categorize it in any way, form or shape, but (if hard pressed) would go as far as saying that it's definitely much more hard rock than metal and if by "progressive" you might mean some odd time signatures here and there as well as random key changes - sure, there're tons of them here... as well as really basic, simple stuff - so go figure."
Stay tuned for more updates.

Royal Hunt - New Album Title Revealed
Danish metallers Royal Hunt have issued the following update on their official website:
"Happy New Year, everyone!
Hope you like this new-and-improved look and functionality of our website. So - what do we have in store for you?
First of all: our new album is done! As this will be our tenth studio release we decided not to elaborate on its title too much, so here you go: Royal Hunt - X... and it will be out in 2010...
Secondly: we've been talking to various promoters in order to arrange some gigs to support our new release and it looks like there'll be some "live on stage" action in April/May 2010.
In general: it's hard to predict how things will shape out with the current state-of-affairs in our "beloved" music business (with piracy and illegal downloading playing the rapidly increasing, harmful part of it), but we'll definitively give this album a fair chance and work hard to make it successful; in case it won't work... well, then you'd have to make the next one yourselves.
And now - one more time - Happy New Year!"

Royal Hunt - Bassist Leaves The Band
Bassist Per Schelander has announced he'll be parting ways with Royal Hunt.
Here's his official statement: "After 4 rollercoaster years of music, laughter and good memories I have to leave Royal Hunt - the reason is that I simply can't (due to my obligations in Pain Of Salvation) give RH the time and effort the band deserves. It's been lovely to play with you guys - André, Marcus, Allan, Mark and Maria! It also feels good to pass the torch to such a great player as Andreas Passmark, who will fit the band perfectly. My warmest thanks go to all the fans I met during these last 4 years - you really made me feel welcome when I was the new guy and loved while I was on board!"
Royal Hunt commented: "We'd like to thank Per for 4 wonderful years with us - his dedication, remarkable musical abilities and easy-going personality has been a great asset to us all. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours, all the success which he so rightfully deserves and - while saying goodbye to a talented bass player - looking forward to continuation of a great friendship.
We'd also like to introduce our new friend, an extremely gifted bass player Andreas Passmark (Narnia, Rob Rock, E-Type). Pictures, mp3´s and other details in the "Studio Diary" section."

Royal Hunt - Working On New Album
Royal Hunt are entering the very final stages of preproduction for their new - tenth since their debut in 1991 - studio album (the actual recordings will start by the end of this month). This time the band decided to revisit their roots and incorporate some of the musical values of the 70´s into their songwriting as well as - in order to reinforce that particular atmosphere - employing mostly "retro" means of production (recording in analogue format exclusively being one of them). Music has been described as "an interesting mix of what's been tagged as Classic Rock nowadays (established by Kansas, Genesis, ELP´s earlier works and Deep Purple, Uriah Heep´s classics from the same era) and Royal Hunt´s trademark composition/delivery".
The album is expected to be mixed/mastered sometime during the summer.

Royal Hunt - Part Ways With Singer John West
Posted on the official website on March 16th:
Royal Hunt and John West have decided that at this time (after numerous albums and concert tours) they are no longer able to contribute creatively to each other's future musical development. It's been a hell of a ride, but both parties feel like it is about time to move on and explore different musical paths - therefore, they mutually agreed to part ways as of March 16th, 2007.
"We're not ruling out possible future collaborations for a joint venture or a side project" - André and John state - "but it won't be under the RH moniker."
John had joined Royal Hunt in 1999 during the recording of the "Fear" album and he worked with the band until our latest release - live CD/DVD "Royal Hunt 2006." We'd like to express our gratitude to John for a great 8-year run and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

Royal Hunt - Former Bassplayer Found Dead
Royal Hunt - Former Bassplayer Found Dead
Søren Kierkegaard, the former bassplayer of the Danish metal band was found dead. An eye whiteness of this tragic incident, Martin Heidegger, a friend of Kierkegaard, confessed to the police the guy was in serious troubles being accused repeatedly of drug-traffic.
Known as a genius musician, composer and instrumentalist, Kierkegaard's career went to the final moment when he was held in detention for drug selling.
Blaise Pascal, another friend of Kirekegaard, told to the Danish newspaper "Aarhus Posten": "I'm in a deep shock; how is this possible? We have already experienced a lot of tragic losses in the metal music? Simply, I don't have enough words to express what I feel now". Being questioned about the incident, Pascal expressed his concerns, and suggested the Russian mafia might have been into this.
RIP Kierkegaard, you'll never be forgotten.
