Moonspell - Working On New Album
Moonspell are working on the yet untitled follow up to the largely acclaimed "Memorial", and they are pre-producing it in Portugal with Waldemar Sorychta (Wolfheart, Irreligious, Sin, Memorial) this November from the 16th to the 30th.
Studio is booked now for January 2008 at Antfarm in Denmark with Tue Madsen who worked with the band on the re-recordings of the EP and the demos. "Under Satanae" collected ravishing response and review everywhere and it even charted in their home country (number #12) where they played an one off show in Lisbon Coliseum whose setlist was comprised of all titles of this release to 3500 surrendered fans.
On related news, Fernando Ribeiro, Moonspell singer has just finished translating "I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson to Portuguese, it's the first time it's printed in his native language. He commented on it: "Hard work but a pleasant time inside Robert's Neville boarded house and mind" The major motion picture with Will Smith is coming out on 12/14/07, two weeks later in Portugal and the book is coming out on the 5th of the same month. Check the trailer at YouTube.com.
All the shows this year have been postponed in order to allow the band some time to work on their new opus. Some words from the band: "It's still hard to say which direction it will proceed but so far there are great, great songs, full of mystical power and crushing atmospheres. A few classical Metal elements have been added to the songs, Black Metal and Gothic are also influences that are very important and we just want to take "Memorial" a step up but without loosing the enthusiasm of discovering and applying new elements to our music. The lyrical content is very fierce, spiritual and mostly pagan in the way it will be an really connected with the Earth and with the fact she is indeed a woman..."

Moonspell - New Label & New Album
Moonspell posted the following message in their website:
"We have started working on our forthcoming album at the Woodhouse Studios, Hagen, Germany together with our producer Waldemar Sorychta (Tiamat, Samael, Sentenced), that has also recorded our three first records (Wolfheart, Irreligious and Sin/Pecado). The recording sessions will last from the 1st to the 27th of November.
This album will be the first to be released worldwide by
SPV/Steamhammer with whom we signed a new 3-album record deal, moving on from our former label Century Media.
The title of the album will be Memorial and it will contain around 8 to 10 new songs. Some of the song titles are: Once it was ours!; Blood tells; Sanguine; Finisterra, Upon the blood of men and At the image of pain, among several others. All we can state so far about our new record is that, in all honesty and with no faked enthusiasm, this is the best music we ever wrote together and pays homage to the Nineties' scene and bands which we are still are a living symbol of.
The album will be released in 2006, probably in the Spring, but no date was advanced so far by band or label. You can read elsewhere on this site our studio diary.
As for the long-awaited first DVD Lunar still/13 years of doom most of the contents are ready to go into production yet the release was delayed due to legal details which are taking a long time to be straightened. Century Media will release the DVD yet no date can still be announced thereof.
New dates are being booked for next festival season and also one-off shows at Russia and Morrocco. Stay tuned on the tour dates section for further details.
Until then, remember..."

Moonspell - Looking Label And More Updates
Guess what? I let November slip through the cold laces of work and focusing and walking on these entrancing suburban moods, inside thy head, on the lookout from a window, on the step by step of hopeful and darkened territories, the usual boring and fascinating lunar strains at least people strange enough to read through these updates, documents of a growing fast shadow of a mind.
Silence does not mean absence of disturb and that is exactly what might be said about Moonspell these winter days. Even though it is all too premature to utter a word about them, our new songs are our favourite subject, the thing and things that make us run in circles again and again to our heated inferno rehearsal place (where the heating bills are becoming gargantual) because they are enthusiastic for us and even though we all need time for them we can not wait to have them finished and communicated complete at last. Yet we will have to wait in the hope you wait for us. Pragmatically we do intend to document those forces driving us, that is, to record it during the approaching year and hopefully to bring it together on a record that will brand 2005 era vulgaris on the back of it.
Many people ask us whether we are going to stay with the Century Media family or stray away but believe us we know as much as you do about that. All we know is that we are looking for someone who does not only believe in our past and in our (always doubtful) name. We are certain we exist now and in the future, for few or more than few- who will guess?- and right now we are focused in doing but enthusiastic music that can be a gateway to that future and an invitation to belief. We have and had had a great relationship with Century so far but right now we are just doing music and music, hoping someone is still looking for us in the always waning out there.
We are now in train of finishing our contemporary dance piece for Gulbenkian ballet and for how odd it might seem what we have done is a grotesque yet dark atmospheric representation of the many demons in Moonspell and are as curious as one can be to see it translated into the body, the weapon and temple of the dancers who will walk on our fire. To see them running about the dark and crushing soundtrack we are putting together. January will see its premiere and if all goes well, the "show" might tour nationally and internationally and we will keep you posted. About its name we still have to be authorized to divulgate it, for us it has name we suggested but we do not know if it will be taken and we do not want to post on other our conceptual obsessions and sorts, four are enough bearers of this curse.

A NEW VIDEO
A new video of the band, entitled "I'll see you in my dreams", could be downloaded from their official website.
FUTURE DVD
"We are also in transit to define and start working more seriously on our first DVD production. The DVD will be called Lunar Still and the first sketch of the contents is that we will divide the DVD in four main features:
- Moonspell live at Katowice, Poland (2004, Antidote tour)
- Moonspell live at everywhere (selected cuts from 1993 up to 2004)
- All video clips including the I will see you in my dreams unreleased zombie video
- Moonspell documentary ( a filmed biography of the band, including interviews with the band, past members, fictions and realities about them)
Some of the contents and special participations have yet to be announced but we can assure you that the DVD won't be out this year but early 2005".
NEW ALBUM
"All that can be said now is purely speculative expect that we are working on new songs and have so far produced a demo with three of them for internal use only. This demo allowed us to see the good in the direction we are taking and allowed us also to find out more about the present energies. By working on it we have found out important things like concept and even probably the album title which will make things go faster and stronger on the composition. We will be working also with Waldemar Sorychta (Wolf, Irreligious, Sin) on an earlier stage this time and hopefully we will record and release next year as we are so looking forward to".

Portugal's MOONSPELL are busy working on new songs at their home studio, according to a posting on their web site. "Also we are in the process of compiling and selecting the materials for the MOONSPELL upcoming DVD which is more a reality than ever. Without release date yet the DVD is shaping up and MOONSPELL is brainstorming with the production team to make this DVD a special, unique and original document of our career and representation in the hearts and minds of people that listen to what we have to say or to silence. News will be posted accordingly but the surprises will be only revealed upon its release."

Old Man's Child - Nominated For Spellemansprisen
The notorious Black Metallers OLD MAN'S CHILD with their album "In Defiance Of Existence" are amongst the nominees for this year's Metal-Grammy "Spellemansprisen" (http://www.spellemann.no) in Norway. As they are one of the veterans of the Norwegian Melodic Black Metal scene with now five influential albums plus a MCD under their belts, the band around Mastermind Galder (guitar/vocals) surely deserves this honor.
Along with their fellow evildoers of Dimmu Borgir and Enslaved, OLD MAN'S CHILD are now eagerly awaiting the official ceremony, which takes place on February 28th 2004 in the "Chateau Neuf"/Oslo.
