Soilwork - New Second Guitarist

The following update has been posted on Soilwork's website:

"We're proud to announce that we decided who's gonna be the new second guitarist for Soilwork. After tons of gigs and tours, with different candidates, we decided that it will be Daniel Antonsson (from Dimension Zero, Pathos). It was a very hard decision to make... cause all of the guitarists we tried, have been awesome to play with. We had a great time with all of them on the tours and I'm sure they soon will be heard in another band or another constellation.

About the recording:

Dirk has arrived to Sweden, and we have been rehearsing the new songs for a couple of days now. Today we will start with the recording of the drums. And that will go on for the next week, or something. During the following 3 weeks, we will record the guitars, bass and keyboard. At the beginning of March, Björn will fly to Canada and work together with Devin Townsend, to do the vocals. It's gonna be interesting.

As I mentioned, we will try to keep ya updated as much as possible, and we will also try to upload pics and video clips from the studio. Stay tuned!

Cheers
/Ola Frenning - Soilwork"

Nagelfar - Reissue Of Virus West Available

Van Records has reissued the third album from disbanded German black metallers Nagelfar called "Virus West".
According to a press release: "Virus West is by far the most aggressive and powerful piece of music ever released by the band, leaving the shores of melancholy and reverie behind and setting sails for harsh and wrathful fields of either fast or energetic mid-tempo tunes. The production of the album was once again taken over by Andy Classen (Belphegor, Dew Scented) within the walls of the famous Stage One studio, which means that the sound of the compositions will rearrange your entire anatomy."

"Virus West" was released in 2001, and had the following tracklisting:

01 - Hellebarn (Light Barn)
02 - Sturm Der Katharsis (Storm Of Catharsis)
03 - Hetzjagd In Palästina (Agitation In Palestine)
04 - Westwall (Western Wall)
05 - Fäden Des Schicksals" (Threads Of Fate)
06 - Protokoll Einer Folter (Protocol Of Torture)
07 - Meuterei (Mutiny)

Nagelfar (not to be confused with the Swedish Naglfar) were a German progressive black metal band.
The band was founded in 1993 by Zorn and Rhyktius V. Grhabakk von Meilenwald. After a long search for a lead vocalist, Smaug was selected; Svein von Hackenberg became acquainted with Smaug and Rhyktius at a party and entered the band's lineup as bassist in 1995. In autumn 1995, Smaug was replaced by Jander, and Garvin joined as session keyboardist. This lineup recorded the band's first demo, Als die Tore sich öffnen ("As The Gates Open"); their second demo, Jagd ("Hunt"), followed the next year before the band secured a contract with Kettenhund Records.
In 1997, the band's first album, Hünengrab im Herbst, appeared; a split EP with Dark Embrace, contraining the track "Nur ein See" ("Only One Lake") followed the same year. In 1998, Svein von Hackenberg departed for personal reasons; he was replaced by Chaos. The production of Srontgorrth, a concept album, was marred by turmoil, resulting in the departure of Jander before all the vocal tracks had been recorded.
Zingultus was Jander's replacement, and Chaos left the band shortly after the completion of Srontgorrth. In 2001, Virus West appeared; in April 2002, the band broke up for unspecified reasons.

And when it comes to drums, we have always known that Benjamin was best for the band. Welcome back big daddy!!!"

Death Angel - Working On New Album

Guitarist Rob Cavestany of Bay Area Thrash Titans Death Angel has issued the following update:

"We've been jamming out at our studio in Oakland, creating a new album which we plan to release later this year. Good vibes are flowing! Can't wait for you to feel it?

"We're pretty much going to lay low on the live shows until we get the album completed. In fact, we did not plan to do any shows at all before summer but then we got invited to play in the Philippines! 'Pulp Summer Slam Seven' takes place at Amoranto Stadium in Manila and we can't wait to hit that outdoor stage in the sizzling heat? it's gonna be insane!

"OK, maybe one or two of the summer festivals in Europe; it's torture passing those up!

"Other than that, it's all about getting that 'studio tan,' but you can bet your sweet ass that we'll be coming your way after we drop our new disc on ya? I also want to thank each and every one of you who continue to support and enjoy our music. You make us feel so warm and fuzzy."

The following message has been posted on metallica.com:

"Enough already with this announcing one show at a time B.S. . . . we've got four more to tell you about!

First up, is Oslo, Norway on July 10th. Last time we were there is it was winter (Dec. '03). . . we're psyched to be playing outside in the summer, actually our first outside gig ever in Norway.

Yeah, there are a couple of days off in there . . . what to do, what to do?

Last tidbit from tonight's update . . . a city we have only played once before, and site of one of the best and most intense shows in 'Tallica history . . . Moscow on July 18th, this time at the Lushniki Stadium.

They're all Metallica shows, with of course a few cool opening bands that we'll let you in on as soon as all the details are sorted.

We have a few more shows in the works, so we'll get back to you soon as they're confirmed . . . keep watching here."
