Darkane - Working On New Material

Swedish metallers Darkane have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Whats up! Sorry about the lack of updates. Darkane has had some time off during the summer while Peter Wildoer has been busy touring with Pestilence. We played the Roskilde festival in Denmark and the Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic this summer, and they both felt very successful. Next up is the underground Thrashfestival in Oslo, Norway October 10th. We are also working on a very cool tour pretty far away from where we live, but it will be official when its 100% confirmed.

During the summer Peter, Klas and I have come with ideas and riffs for the next album, and Jens has written some lyrics. We have now started to gather together and put our ideas into actual songs. We are very eager to start recording the next album, and I think we have come up with some very cool stuff so far. Til next time, stay metal!"

Darkane - New Singer Announced

The following message was posted on Darkane's official website:

"Darkane would like to welcome Jens Broman as the new vocalist in Darkane.

Jens will take over the vocal duties after Andreas Sydow left the band in August, and Jens has recently been seen on the vocal spot in Constucdead and The Defaced (he will continue to sing in both bands). Jens grew up in Glumslöv south of Helsingborg (as a good friend of Björn Strid from Soilwork), but now lives in Stockholm. His live debut with Darkane will take place in three weeks at the Progpower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark (November 10th). Darkane has been rehearsing hard lately and are very excited to work together with Jens. He has a huge vocal diversity and we are pretty sure that fans of Darkane won´t be disapointed.

We would like to thank all the people that showed their interest in joining Darkane as a vocalist. We whish you all the success in the future. However, we had our interest set on Jens at a very early stage.

As you might know our studio "Not quite studio" was flooded a month back. We are working hard on finding another location to build our new studio in and start recording the new album. We are very positive that this will happen in the near future.

The other guys in Darkane would also like to congratulate Peter and Erika for getting engaged a few weeks back."

Darkane - New Album In The Works

Darkane drummer Peter Wildoer has posted this message on his website: "This coming winter we will start recording Darkane's fifth record. We have about nine songs ready. We were hoping to enter the studio earlier but in typical Darkane bad luck, our studio got flooded and badly damaged. So now we're looking for a new location for the studio and as soon as we find that we need to rebuild the studio which takes a lot of time. Hopefully we will start recording around Christmas (fingers crossed). In some weeks, we'll start working on the mix of the upcoming Darkane DVD. I just hope the DVD will be released early next year".

Darkane´s upcoming DVD was shot in May 2006 in the band's hometown of Helsingborg, Sweden.

Darkane - Vocalist Quits

Darkane vocalist Andreas Sydow has decided to leave the band and issued his official statement on the Darkane website:

"The time has come, my friends for me to step down from my position as vocalist of the greatest band in the world!

I feel I've reached a stand still in the creative process with Darkane and together we came to the decision to let fresh blood into the band for the upcoming fifth album. Darkane is constantly evolving and I'm sure that this ignition will be great for the band.

We certainly part ways as very good friends and we're in fact still working together on finishing the long awaited DVD. Hopefully the Darkane "Layers of Live" DVD will be released this autumn and, in a way, sum up my 7 years with Darkane and be the perfect closure.

I feel very honoured and privileged to have been a part of such a great musicianship as Darkane and I have tons of great memories from all we've experienced together. I'm really gonna miss it!

I want to send out a great big thanks to all the people I've met and gotten to know over these 7 years! To all family and friends for supporting me and the band. To all the great bands we've met, played and toured with, especially to Devin Townsend (I wouldn't have made it through the U.S. without you!). To all the crew that has helped us out over the years. To Erin Lynch for believing in us and coping with all our bad habits, misshapes, accidents and illnesses (You sure are the Darkane tour mama!). To the Nuclear Blast crew, in Europe as well as in the USA (Thanks for helping me fulfil one of my biggest dreams, Gerardo! Keep working those vocals, Loana, and keep your enthusiasm flowing!). To all the fanzine's that spread the word about Metal all over the world. Your work is extremely important and appreciated! And finally a HUGE thanks to all the fans all over the world for coming to the shows and supporting Darkane! You are my, and Darkane's, true inspiration!"
