DragonForce - Cancelling Three European Festivals

Herman Li from DragonForce checks in for some good and bad news:

'Right! Some of us came back home for two weeks off, a few stayed in Australia for a bit of a holiday. What an amazing first N. American tour weve had! A sold out headlining tour, finally got to meet our fans in the US & Canada and we got to meet loads of cool people!

What more could we have asked for? There were more sold out shows when we arrived in Australia! We would like to thank our fans that have been waiting for a long time, and new fans whove just discovered us for coming out in numbers to our shows. Thanks to our guests on the tour or should we say friends, from the bands Protest the Hero, Sanctity and Black Majesty. These guys kicked serious ass, so check them out!

So, the news has been out about DragonForce playing the main stage on Ozzfest. We are really excited to be touring the US again and be given the opportunity to play in front of our die-hard fans and showcase our skills to a new audience. Despite all the rumours people have read on the internet, we never received an offer to play Gigantour.

Now here comes the bad news. We had to cancel three European festivals that weve been so looking forward to playing. To the fans in the Netherlands, Finland and Spain, sorry but well make it up to you. The World Tour will continue to roll on so see you all soon !

- Herman Li, DragonForce'

DragonForce - Announce New Bassist

Current touring bassist Frederic Leclercq (former Heavenly guitarist, and current live guitarist for French act Carnival In Coal) was announced through a press release at Roadrunner records UK as the new bassist to DragonForce.

According to Roadrunner: "Fred is a longtime friend of Dragonforce guitarist, Herman Li. Whilst out on the road with Dragonforce, the band realised that Fred fitted into the band perfectly and invited him to join on a permanent basis.

Fred is a bit of a super-talented 'multi-man'. As well as being fluent in the English, French and German languages (and swear words in most others!), Fred is actually multi-instrumental (he plays guitar, bass, keyboards and sings) in multiple metal genres.

Fred's accession to full-time status adds even more international colour to Dragonforce's ranks. The London-based outfit can now boast a South African frontman (ZP Theart), guitarists from Hong Kong and New Zealand (Herman Li and Sam Totman, respectively), a Ukrainian keyboard player (Vadim Pruzhanov) to add to their British drummer (Dave Mackintosh) and now, French bassist."

The band is currently on tour which should finish in March, after this DragonForce have a couple of new dates in Ireland:

Sat 18th March - Dublin Ambassador Theatre
Sun 19th March - Belfast Spring & Airbrake

DRAGONFORCE Begin Work On New Album

London-based power metallers DRAGONFORCE have started work on the follow-up to their debut album, "Valley Of The Damned", released earlier this year.

The majority of the recording is taking place at Thin Ice Studios, Virginia Water, Surrey, England with producer Karl Groom, while all the guitars are being recorded at guitarist Herman Li's own private studio in West London.

Li, Z.P. Theart (vocals), Sam Totman (guitars), and Vadim Pruzhanov (keyboards) have now been joined by new bassist Adrian Lambert and drummer David Mackintosh (also with BAL-SAGOTH).

Said Li, "We are working hard every day in the studio, and I can tell you that the new album will exceed the boundaries of melodic, speed power metal."

The new, as-yet-untitled album will be released on the Noise Records label on March 22, 2004.

In other news, DRAGONFORCE will be heading out on their debut Japanese tour late January 2004 as special guests of German legends HELLOWEEN.
