Dream Theater - New Album Cover And Tracklist Unveiled
The suspense is over, Dream Theater fans. The progressive metal group has finally revealed the images and words for their self-titled upcoming new album. The cover art and tracklist are now available below for you to enjoy and speculate about. And so it begins. Now all we have to do is wait for the new music to arrive. The official release date of the album is September 24th on Roadrunner.
The nine-track disc was recorded at Cove City Studio in Glen Cove, Long Island, with guitarist Petrucci producing and Richard Chycki engineering and mixing.
In January, Petrucci said of Mangini's work: "When people hear the drumming on this album, they're gonna be pretty freaked out. On the last album, he did a great job, but he wasn't there for the writing process and he was interpreting drum parts that I had programmed. Even though he used his creativity, of course, to change them up and do his thing, I feel like now he's just Mike Mangini unleashed. It's all him. It's all his creativity, all his decisions and ideas and man, the guy's an animal."

The cover of Somewhere in Time is their best. There are so many clever references to be found there, some of them not so obvious. Too bad that the new re-issues are such low quality when it comes to covers.

Worst Dream Theater cover art to this day, I mean, how cheap they are, they did not have money to afford an artist? I mean, even new bands with terrible music have covers by Ed Repka or Travis Smith... Well, it's a huge step, at least they are not using other band's cover art to make their own hoping we won't notice the difference... oh wait... Still, their last album was a snorefest experience, it was quite hard for me to listen it without falling asleep, which kinda hurts me considering I used to enjoy this band a lot: Well, I hope this will be at least something average, but, who knows?

The Count of Tuscany of the otherhand is a solid modern DT song in my opinion. And after hearing there is a new "Epic" (long) song, I can't wait to hear what it's going to be like

I'll be honest, I don't get why people are hating this much on the cover art. The album is titled "Dream Theater." That's exactly what this cover art shows me. I look at this, and I think "Dream Theater." It's simple, yes, but isn't that the point. There's nothing fancy going on here. It's just "Dream Theater."
