Alcest - New Album Detailed

So far, we knew that Alcest's new album would be called Shelter, some guests that will be participating on the album, but not much more. Today is the day to find out more about the band's fourth album to date. Firstly, the album will be released on January 17th (January 21st in North America) on Prophecy Productions. The album cover and tracklist are also available below. As for the music, you will have to wait a little bit more for that.

The album which features guest appearances from Slowdive's Neil Halstead (lead vocals on the song "Away"), Sweden's Promise And The Monster's Billie Lindahl and Amiina's strings sections was recorded at Sundlaugin Studio, Iceland, with Sigur Rós producer Birgir Jón Birgisson.

The record is "about the concept of shelter as a safe place that allows everybody to escape reality for an instant, to reunite with what we really are, deep down. Neige's own shelter turned out to be the sea, as well as the tracks of this album, all inspired by and dedicated to it."

Tracklist:

01. Wings
02. Opale
03. La Nuit Marche Avec Moi
04. Voix Sereines
05. L'Eveil Des Muses
06. Shelter
07. Away
08. Délivrance

Bonus CD/ Bonus 7" of the deluxe editions:
01. Into The Waves

Furthermore, the group will also release a 7" vinyl single called "Opale" which offers a first glimpse into the upcoming album. There are 500 copies in black vinyl and 500 copies in white vinyl and the B-side of both editions is emblazoned with an etching. The release is set for December 13th, 2013. Pre-order here.

Really looking forward to the album.

A bit disappointed with the cover and name though. I loved the art styles of Voyages and Ecailles and was hoping for more

ahah that is absolutely what will happen. Give it a few minutes

Also, the hand thing, it's been done by Porcupine Tree. Copy-cats.

You are missing the wink emoticon I'll probably agree though, this one looks like it's going to be their softest record.

China was a neat
As much as I personally hate shoegaze, I really am curious how they follow-up that record. Wondering if things suddenly wil take a turn for the good.

Little disappointed with the art cover, as well as the album name.. But we'll see, I hope it will be a good record. La Nuit Marche Avec Moi is a great tite though, imo.

That album cover blows. I expect a far better album cover than that from Alcest.

Isn't that the other way around on their release(s)? Do we need some damn fine police work?

lol I don't know but there is a hand there in a similar position. If their new album sounds like PT, I'm sold

As far as I know this will be a pure shoegaze album so it WILL be "too clean". Dunno about boring though.

Not a fan of the cover art. Dunno who did it, but they should stick to Fursy imo. And if he made it then wtf.

Shoegaze isn't always clean, the latest Alcest would've benefited from a rougher production similar to their debut.

Oh you meant the production?

You're right then, shoegaze is generally quite fuzzy and "swirly". Thought you meant the "softness" of the sound.

Indeed I was talking about the production I don't mind a soft record at all as long as it is not the same recycled unimaginitive riffs.
