Sumac - Aaron Turner's New Band Streaming New Song


A few months ago, guitarist/vocalist Aaron Turner announced his new project Sumac with drummer Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists). They recorded their debut effort with help from bassist Brian Cook (Russian Circles). Now they are streaming one of their tracks named "Thorn In The Lion's Paw" from the album The Deal and they also revealed the album cover art. Check out the music and everything else below.

The debut Sumac album The Deal will be released on CD/Digital via Profound Lore Records and vinyl via SIGE on February 3rd, 2015.

Sounds promising! Very raw and grim - captures the abstract, inspiring sound of post-metal, which is one of my favourite styles/digressions in metal.

Sumac looks like a darker horizon rising from and beyond the ashes of Isis!

Yeah it seems good material with some fictions of Isis in it i just hope it be a great album im looking forward to it

This is very good and just the surprise that was needed today! It feels a bit disjointed at times but a few more listens could change that. It's great to hear Turner's raspy vocals again! Comparing it to Isis, I think it mostly resembles "Oceanic", there are some rhythms in here that reminds me of the song False Light everytime I hear it.
