Gwar - Kim Dylla Out, Releasing Book, New Tour Announced
Apart from fighting a lawsuit filed by Dave Brockie's father, Gwar are busy with many other things these days. First off, the band has announced a new tour, dubbed 30 Years of Total Domination Tour with support from Butcher Babies and Battlecross. Secondly, the group is releasing a new book titled Let There Be GWAR and also Kim Dylla, Vulvatron, was released from the band directly following the fall 2014 GWAR Eternal Tour, and will no longer perform with the group. Vulvatron will live on but portrayed by someone else.
Dylla played the character of Vulvatron on the band's last national tour. Brent Purgason, slave of the recently defrosted intergalactic barbarian, Pustulus Maximus, had this to say: "Kim did a great job, but we wanted to go a different direction with the Vulvatron character. You will absolutely see more of Vulvatron in the future, just not portrayed by Kim. There is no ill will, no acrimony, and no drama. We respect Kim's talent without question, it just isn't what we needed in the character."
As for the book, Let There Be GWAR is a comprehensive behind-the-scenes history of the most outrageous shock rock band of all time. Gwar fans will cherish this oversized hardcover book chock full of fascinating first-hand accounts and rare, never-before-seen photographs. The book follows the band from the mid-1980s when the group came together at a derelict dairy building in Richmond, Virginia, through the 1990s and 2000s, when the band spread across the face of the planet like a plague. Let There Be GWAR takes you backstage at these performances, a tour of the Gwar kingdom in photos, band posters, ephemera, production sketches and interviews, that chronicle the band's albums, comics and videos in a blood-stained hardbound tome.
The hardcover book is over 350 pages, with a lenticular cover, and features 30 years of Gwar and Slave-Pit Inc., the production company behind the band. The book was compiled by Bob Gorman and Roger Gastman.
There will be a limited number (150) books hand signed by the members of Gwar. These copies cost $100 and can be pre-ordered here. They are expected to ship late August/early September.
